growing up and living a life in japan is much more difficult then the US. because of all the stress and etc building up inside them, its pretty crazy. anyways, i dont think suicide is stupid. what's wrong with not wanting to live anymore because lifes become so imbearable?

Because you admit just how weak you are. There are people with worse lives who would never think of killing themselves.

lol you said it before me. if Mik3y really thinks that way, he needs to get some serious help.

I take it they do this after the pics of their riced out Morning Musume pink vans made it into their parents hands

my friend went to teach in Japan. He says there is not really a system there to deal with depressed students. They just kinda shove them to the side and ignore them. Then they commit suicide because no one likes them, talks to them, or try to help. And their parents are too busy working to notice something wrong.

🙁

pretty much. i don't think anyone can fully understand what goes through those kids minds w/o having grown up in japan.

And how is it different in the US?....

They identify and put depressed students on meds.
edit: one of my highschool friends wrote a poem about the thought of killing himself and the teacher read it, sent it to the counselor, and he had a long talk with them. Also had to go see a shrink for a while. He said he just wrote about a dream he had.

Over here they get guns and shoot their fellow students. At least the Japanese are considerate.

What about the depressed students who do not write suicidal papers?

ninjas don't kill themselves. thats samurai. ninjas are too totally awesome to kill themselves when they could be busy chopping off peoples heads and throwing ninja stars.

IIRC, there were only a handful of ninjas that actually used shrikens for killing. the primary purpose of the "ninja stars" is to distract the enemies. any ninja experts here?

just a thought 🙂

There are ~130 million people in Japan, 32K suicides/year isn't extraordinary.
IIRC, 5800 people killed themselves in 1989 in Hungary (10 million inhabitants). Sad record, but proves that their situation could be worse.

Current WHO Stats:

I don't know. know any? what happened to them?

The same damn thing that happens in japan....

but when they try and fail are they again ignore as in Japan?
The difference between the US and Japan is that the US has a system in place to deal with depressed students. They have a safety net for them. Yes some fall through but others are caught. In Japan they don't have a net, its just one gaping hole.

I asked my friend for more info and he said he found out one of his students tried to commit suicide when he saw her with obvious signs on her wrists and arm. When he asked his other co-workers about it they said there isn't really a system in Japan in place for them. and they are usually ignored and they'll try suicide again.

IIRC, that is exactly it. Most of the time throwing knives are used for silent assassinations with lethal precision while shriken were mostly to get an opponent running about (and if they're too slow, they'll get hit, so it's win/win situation) 😛

In the anime Peacemaker Kurogane, there was a ninja (forgot his name) that was going to committ seppuku when he failed a mission, but was stopped by his sister. She reminded him that a ninja's duties are different than that of samurai. My $0.02 cents, no tax.

wow...that's horrible :frown:

45 people committed suicide in groups after meeting over the Internet

its cause they have that sweet 100mbps internet for only 38$ a month, lucky punks. I wouldn't kill myself if i had that to go home to 🙂

Yeah.....It's that darned Internet's fault. It sure is corrupting society these days.

The internet saved my life a few times. Seeing everyone else that has it so much worse than me, makes feel so much better. Like all of you losers. j/k

The internet was made by people...What on earth are you talking about? hehe

Society corrupts society and people kill people (sometimes themselves).
