Hahaha!! I see it as the exact opposite... to me it is a party of people who sold out their core beliefs just because the found someone who could be elected.

But both parties are so liqiudated into almost one. They will be whatever it is that will get them elected.

🙂

Actually I don't think Shrub REALLY said that. Someone hacked the CGI they've been using for the past 3 years. Start looking for these comic hacks to occur more frequently. Maybe we'll see Shrub wearing his Nazi uniform and giving his GOP convention speeches in fluent German soon.

Actually, that's a good point. And maybe that's what he meant. But it should have been passed by a few people to see most wouldn't understand or take it that way... if that's the case.

Amused and others really show their zealotry with this one. This sort of retrofitting takes practice. Maybe you've gotten good at it by retrofitting bible verses to fit your life?

Please explain how you secure something without thinking of every way possible to attack it?

If you WATCH the video, Bush read this from his speech.

Obviously, a speech writer didn't run this past enough people to have it pointed out to him how this could be taken out of context and used against the president. No retrofitting needed. Just the facts.

Taken in context, the quote makes sense IF one thinks about it objectively.

It makes sense even if not taken in context.
Yep, it does to me too. I don't see why some don't seem to understand it.
This even made it to the ircspy main page. Comments

And should we not be trying to find the ways our country can be harmed instead of just waiting around to get attacked again?

This is not rocket science. The man screwed up. If I happen to be in an airport and a security guard comes up and asks me what am doing, I would be an idiot to say I am wondering how to thwart security and hijack a plane. It may be done with best intent to improve security, however I screwed up by saying something stupid. Bush takes the prize on these pearls of wisdom. Next people will be saying Jerry Ford fell to throw the USSR off balance and make them overconfident. At least Ford wasn't a buffoon.

As a matter of fact, now that you mention it, to me it appears that rumsfeld flinched a little. I saw him sway backwards a little bit and it looked like he closed his eyes in deep thought for a second. I could just be over-analyzing and probably am, but when I looked closely I did see rumsfelt react to this statement.

Ah you just have it out for the man, whether he's right or wrong:
" I am sorry, but this man is a dick."

Of course I "have it out" for this guy. I have made no bones about it, but when I have it has been about specific incidents. It all adds up to I think that this man is a dick. I also think he did the right thing in Afghanistan, and I don't think he invaded Iraq for oil. I think he thinks he is doing the right thing. Not to line his pockets. In some way that worries me more. History is full of both petty tyrants and those in power who go to war based on ideology. I think Bush falls into the second category. Just FYI I voted for Bush the last time. He has been a consistent disappointment in most things. He squandered the moment of 9/11, not even trying to use it as a means of reaching out. Instead we got "If you aren't for us, you are against us" Why not "If you are for us, we will be for you against terrorism"? No vision. None.

I am sorry, but this man is a dick.

Well maybe it's because I was a COM major but I took this to mean "we also never stop thinking about it" just as quickly as I saw the idiocy in it. Regardless, whoever said that the writer(s) should've proofed it with more people is right. And if Bush had actually been thinking of what he was saying, he would've clarified in the very next sentence himself. And it's not like this is the first time he's been mindless making a speech to the entire nation... the end of Moore's movie was another perfect example.

I plan on voting for the first time in Nov... just to get this guy outta there...

Yeah....he's the only President to say or do something like thsat...hmmm...check around about Kennedy or Truman or Reagan....they all have done stupid things...

I would've laughed at their stupidity the same... like I am now with dubya. This guy needs to go... he screams mindless zombie to me.

I commend you for your lack of zealotry. I disagree with you, but I respect you for a level headed appraisal of the situation.
Do people realize how much they discredit themselves when the go over the top with their criticism?
I have some serious misgivings with the whole "using a crisis to increase the powers of a government thing", but I just can't bring myself to vote for a Democrat. Not because I think they are evil, but because I don't want to head down the slippery slope toward socialism. I do not want a nanny state.

Thanks 😀

I understand your reluctance, and I have misgivings in voting for Kerry. The way I see it is that with Kerry, I have the satisfaction of knowing that Bush (and I consider Presidents employees, not overlords) got fired for what I considered a poor job, and that Kerry faces a Rep. Congress. He isn't going to get anything nasty passed. Kerry winds up being harmless domestically, and hopefully has more diplomatic skills than Bush.

Best of all possible Hobson's choices, least that's how I see it.
