In a forum filled with atrocious grammar and spelling, it sure is ironic that so many would expect a man to never make a mistake when speaking in public.
Not to mention the fact that some posters seem to have a comprehension problem. There is an entire forum created for crap like this yet they insist on leaving these occasional droppings in OT. Why not post this in P&N where it belongs?

The Smoking Gun link does put it in context. To properly secure something you must first think of every way to attack it.

never make a mistake? make a mistake once or twice...ok we'll let that slip. but this guy keeps on coming back with more and more. after a while, you start questioning his intelligence.
and btw...his grammar wasnt wrong, neither was his spelling.

Right. I love the logic. Anyone who speaks negatively about Bush is simply being a partisan Bush basher. However, those that will defend what was obviously yet another of the myriad of "Bushisms" are just more enlightened and seeing the deeper meaning.
If Kerry or anyone else for that matter made a similar blunder, it would be equally funny to me.

WASHINGTON - President Bush offered up a new entry for his catalog of ?Bushisms? on Thursday, declaring that his administration will ?never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people.?
Bush misspoke as he delivered a speech at the signing ceremony for a $417 billion defense spending bill.
?Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we,? Bush said. ?They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.?
[...]
White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Bush?s misstatement ?just shows even the most straightforward and plain-spoken people misspeak.?

The whole point is that it isn't a blunder, and it's plainly obvious that it isn't. It just requires a little more logical thought than the typical action movie dialog.

defend it all you want, the speech writer that came up with those lines should be fired.
communication is all ABOUT perception. that should be obvious. it doesn't really matter what you INTENDED to say if it isn't PERCEIVED that way by the marjority of people.

I suppose you're right... the first 50 million times Bush screwed up... 😀
So? He gets his words crossed when speaking off the cuff. Big deal. Many intelligent people do this and are not great public speakers on the fly.
And then there are very charismatic speakers who are dumber than a box of rocks, or just plain evil.

Ok, I guess I am just making this out to be nothing when it's clear he was being an ultra cunning linguist and making some deeper meaning...
I'll have to apologize for the AP story on it...it seems they like the copy of "My Agenda" I faxed to them...

Yep...no misstatement there. CLEARLY Mr. McClellan was referring to something that you guys said didn't happen...weird.
Oh, and yes, I did fax a copy of "My Agenda" to the White House as well. I apologize for any effect that "My Agenda" will have on my fellow Americans.
