This last episode was written as if it was the series finale not just a season finale.

It originally was the end of the series. When this season started, it was billed as the final season. It did well enough it got extended.

I just watched Season 1 and Season 2 back to back. That was actually really good. Can't wait until Season 3!

Yeah, between The Last Ship and The Strain I was entertained for the summer. Under The Dome faded on me, but I did commit myself to watch all the episodes just so I could know what would happen.

Tried to get into The Bastard Executioner, but it's meh.

You liked the strain? Watching the strain made me want to punch everyone in that show especially the writers!

Did they play the first episode of Season 3 after some cool NBA game recently? I read several people on a forum saying so.

For example:
"Don't think so. This was the first episode of Season 3. They just put it out there at around 12:30am edt with no announcement. Those who were lucky enough to notice it on the schedule got an advanced showing."

WTF

Stealthily putting out the first episode but there is nothing to say it was done outside of a few people on a forum and one article on a website. Everywhere else just says it airs on June 12.

Yep it was advertised during the NBA game as a sneak peek. My first instinct was a recap or filler BS but it was an actual full length episode.

If my TiVo didn't catch or I wasn't watching the NBA finals I would have been annoyingly pissed off.

I am guessing this will be the same episode that will be shown on the 12th.

You don't think TNT knows drama? I'm shocked! Shocked I say! :D

TNT delivered drama in game 7 of the NBA WCF :)

I love The Last Ship. Just not sure how they are going to match the intense Naval warfare of season 1 against the Russian ship and season 2 with the rogue submarine. Some of those episodes were epic.

Looks like they're planning a 2fer on the 12th. The episode already shown was "The Scott Effect" Season 3 Episode 1, and my TiVo schedule shows 2 shows on 6/12. "The Scott Effect" at 9PM ET and "Rising Sun" Season 3 Episode 2 at 10PM. Sneaky.

That's frickin weird that they showed the first episode with so little fanfare. I mean, I guess it was kind of a "sneak peak," but I can't recall another series doing that.

Anyway, looking forward to as much screen time of Lt. Foster as possible.

Obviously a lot of factual errors, but the naval battles were about as good as you could expect on TV.

The pilot where they took out the Russian helicopters is still one of my favorites though.
