The Last of Us

Just recently finished the game and the DLC and I haven't felt this way since playing games in the SNES era. Thoroughly enjoyed the game, what a masterpiece. Looking forward to ND's magic on PS4.

Does anyone know where to get this game for cheap? Is it short enough to rent (if I can even find it to rent)? It's amazing how the price of this game has remained relatively high.

You can finish the game in around 12-15 hours. I am more than happy to give my money to ND though.

I think they've said a "sequel" is possible insofar as it would be another game in the same universe, but that the story of Ellie and Joel is over. As far as Naughty Dog, I'll probably be holding off on the PS4 until the next Uncharted game comes out. I have nothing but love for ND.

If not a sequel, I'd really enjoy a DLC that occurs a year or two after the end of The Last of Us where Ellie discovers proof that Joel lied about the Fireflies and she tries to get away from him.

But that won't happen because they have a trust/love for each other. That's why the ending is what it is.

What a terrible idea for a game, especially if you've played through TLOU and know the relationship that developed between Joel and Ellie.

Finally finished this last night after putting it down for a few months. Man, what a game. Thoroughly enjoyed it, even if it is a bit tough. Ending was a good one. I had heard stuff about its ending long before finishing but didn't read any details at all on it. Very good game.

Picked one up for $25 new to keep my special editions mint. Just gotta keep looking.

Mine was a black Friday sale but I've seen it $25-30 here and there still.

Just man up and buy it, its worth it.

Its my third copy (pre ordered post pandemic and survival edition) so I can't feel bad about $25 myself.

This is a game that deserves the prices unlike something like GoW3 that had ZERO business being $59.99 for almost TWO YEARS.

even if it was still $59.99 this game is worth it. One of my favorites besides Heavy Rain, Ni No Kuni, and Beyond Two Souls

If you didn't catch it the first time....

She knows...

I'm sure she suspects but her relationship with Joel makes her look past those doubts. The Fireflies aren't going to just let her go and forget about it and Joel's brother used to be a Firefly. It's reasonable that the FFs would suspect Joel went to Tommy's and try to grab Ellie. Once she's forced to face the fact that Joel did, in fact, lie to her and she could end this plague, how would she react then?

Anyway, it'll never happen.

Popular as this game is, and I'm sure there's more to it than a DRAMATIC and TEAR-JERKING storyline filled with angst, pushing dumpsters around and beating up antibiotic-resistant zombies, a questionable relationship between a crusty old mercenary/smuggler and a nubile young woman blossoming into age...but goddamn this game is still expensive a year after release.

For those that are interested and aren't yet aware of this, there's a free, 85 minute behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of this game over on Amazon Instant Video: http://amzn.com/B00IHV0X9C

I've watch 2/3rds so far and it's excellent.

So, a generation-defining, hugely popular game with sky high production values and a campaign easily double if not triple the length of most games these days is hovering around $35 new?

I'm not seeing the shock/outrage. Some games are just worth it.

This game is worth the price, for the type of story and length in gameplay it provides. I don't think I've felt this way about a game since shenmue. Just felt proper once you finished it, like games should be. Now all we get is multiplayer only, 4hr campaigns for $60 + tax.

I hate you

You're not supposed to remind peopleu of Shenmue. Shenmue and Half Life 2, two great unfinished stories.

I'm as sad as you are. The fact that they never finished the story and I never got to finish shenmue 2 because it didn't have the same feel as the first, well and my Xbox broke at the time.

It upsets me a lot when I think about the nostalgic feel of that game. My cousin who was not a gamer stayed up a whole couple of nights and we took turns playing that on Sega. Those are the vacations I miss lol.

LOL! Modern Warfare 2 was never the "Citizen Kane of gaming" and it maintained uber-high retail price new for years. You don't have to see anything, except there is absolutely no reason for this game to still be selling so high.

Look, I respect Naughty Dog for essentially essentially taking on the tired-ass zombie genre and making a decent escort simulator out of it. I respect them even more for crafting a story that emotionally manipulated console gamers and even made put on their fifteen pound thinking caps whilst pushing dumpsters around.

But goddamn, this game has been out for fuckever.

The game has been out for 8-9 months. I'm not sure what your expectations are, but 9 months on the market being described as "fuckever" seems unrealistic.

There are plenty of great games that are older that haven't dropped at ALL. Ocarina of Time on 3DS, a remake of a 15 year old game, that was released as a launch title for the 3DS, hasn't budged a dime (most places).
Fire Emblem Awakening, a year old this week, hasn't dropped either.

TLoU dropped nearly half it's MSRP in under a year.

I just don't get a game not dropping by over half it's MSRP in under a year as something outrageous. Clearly there's a market for it.

Was about to post this. This has probably been posted in this thread before, but just in case... watch this for info on creative development of TLOU story and characters. It's an hour long keynote speech, so I wouldn't do it all in one sitting, but it's a very good story.

Newegg has The Last of Us on sale today for $39.99. Go get it if you haven't played this yet! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...m-_-79-261-377

(I responded with this in the HD thread, so I might as well put it here too)

Amazon too (well close enough)

The disc drive on my PS3 is dying so I'd be looking at getting the digital version. Still seems like a high price to pay for a game I'll only barrel through once. The game+"season pass" is on sale for $55 too, which seems like a decent deal considering the DLC recently released is $15 on its own.

If you are worried about $40 being too much for the game, I would rather get the disc version. You can keep it or sell it later. But that deal with the dlc is a good idea too. Not sure I'll return to my ps3 to play the dlc though.

I picked up TLOU for $25 at Wal-Mart on Black Friday.

No shame as I preordered both the Post Pandemic and Survival editions the first second they opened.
