I guess I'm on my own with this, but I found the game to be... boring? Maybe I'm just not much of a single player kinda guy, but the combat wasn't all that impressive, the story was very good, but by itself it didn't do enough to keep me interested. I played maybe 1/3rd of the way through?

Perhaps I'll come back to it one day, but I'd much rather play some NBA or BF4 right now.

If you primarily play sports games and simple rehash twitch shooters and only desire combat and are the kind of person who skips intros and cut scenes in favor of blowing something up ASAP, then no, it absolutely isn't a game for you.

This is a game you immerse yourself in, with the doors locked, the phones turned off, the window shades closed, lights out, and an entire weekend to blow, to be savored like a fine wine.

how do you know you played 1/3 of the game if you didn't finish it?

and pretty much everyone in this thread will agree, that the first 2 or so hours of the game are pretty slow and boring, and it does take a while to "get going" so to speak. the story at the beginning part that you played also was pretty boring imo and gets better as the game progresses.

They are building up characters and backgrounds and giving you a feeling for the character. You aren't the first person in the thread to think it was a little boring, but every single one of them changes their tune as sone as they hit Pittsburgh(or is it Philly?) and it only gets more exciting and more engaging from there, with little to no letup till the end.

Only about 90 min into the game, but damn the graphics are killer. Rain effects and the water while making it out of the city initially, I don't think the 360 could do anything like this.

Actually this late into the Gen, the Xbox360 had better fidelity and less fps issues than the PS3 on multiplatform releases. Part of that was the shared memory for CPU and GPU. The GPU could be given a lot more space than the GPU on the PS3 stuck at 256MB.

Multiplatform I agree 360 edged out, but is there a game on the 360 that looks this good? Bioshock infinite sure doesn't.

No, exclusives look better on PS3 than Xbox exclusives. Everyone knows that of the game is available on both systems, it's usually better on Xbox because it's easier to develop for.

Finally had time to sit down play/finish it. Loved it. Instant classic. Games like this are so far ahead of the run-of-the-mill console stuff it's wild. So glad I went with a PS3.. Heavy Rain, Uncharted series, Last of Us? 5 incredible titles. Maybe it's time for Beyond Two Souls now? Reviews aren't nearly as impressive, but I loved Heavy Rain.. right? 😛

Damn it I wanted to play beyond two souls. I thought it was coming to ps4. Too bad they also didn't make it for the new system.

Just finished this on hard. I recommend Hard.

I wrote up some issues with the game, because there are a number of them, from being unable to recover ammunition from people who have guns (and this happens all the time--I know it's deliberate, but it's still silly), to rehashing the floating palette puzzle four times. However, instead of focusing on them, the game really is very good.

It's not perfect. I don't think it's a 10/10. I think it's a 9-9.5/10. The graphics are absolutely fantastic, best I've personally ever seen in a game (I don't play PC anymore). They are actually stupendous, and this is on 2006 hardware. Last of us 2 (surely there will be one) on the PS4 will look even more absurd, and then LOU3 better still 😉 Story was good, the game was scary once or twice, the ending felt real.

I live in Miami, FL trust me "Civil" is not in the vocabulary here on Black Friday or any other day of the week.

Lol I am in Ft. Lauderdale and it isn't much better. Well technically I am not in fort Lauderdale but it is the closest major city anyhow this area is about the same as you describe. Especially when I go to coral springs or Boca. When some millionaire is trying to save $50 and they believe you are in their way of that, oh man...its a fight. It gets pretty crazy. And god forbid someone buying $2000 worth of toys at toys r us doesn't get the $15 doll for free because they weren't in line early enough and missed the door buster.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the next few hours on amazon, click on black friday deals on the front page and last of us is going to be going for $25. This will sell out. I actually sold mine last night used for $32 on amazon hehe

game was amazing. I agree the early going was DULL. I almost didn't continue. finished about 3 levels last night and was still debating playing it. Started this morning, and everytime I said. Oh i'll take a break right after this level. I said, ok one more level. 12 hours later, game ended. amazing.

So the main characters never get bitten by zombies, etc? 🙁

"THEY DIDN'T SUFFER!!!"

Has nothing to do with the main characters, its a reference to something you come across.

There's a small "story" of a group trying to rebuild underground in the initial days of the outbreak told through notes, wall scribbles, the aftermath of what you find, etc.

Just a little thing that is part of the ambience of this world. You could easily miss it just running to the goal and not exploring or solving mysteries.

This one was pretty gut wrenching.
