The last batch of WAR Beta invites went out.

So Mythic released the last batch of closed beta invites yesterday and I was lucky enough to get in. Anyone else out there have the same thing happen? How are your torrent download speeds? Probably not so good.

I'm pretty handy with torrents and for some reason, no matter what tricks I use, I can't get my DL speed up nor can I connect to more than four or so seeds.

I blame 14 year old kids.

Thats why i downloaded it day before yesterday, so I would be ready...its installed, all patched up, and BAM! servers are down....

They're saying they wont be up for a day or two atleast....sad.
 
maybe he had friends who sent him the link?

you guys know where the official forum is? i didn't see one at all on the official site, nor the beta inviation email.

it's at 3 gig out of 9 for me... yay

i found a bittorrent leak over on another website...not sure if i can post the site here or not, pm me if u want the link. But ya, some other ppl posted the torrent and they were seeding it. It was the 3.2 version, so when i got my codes today, all i had to do was download the latest patch.
 
The August 15th beta invite apply only to collectors edition preorders or can someone that has just preordered the regular edition be able to get in?

We already have 32K people who have access to them and we have no intention of upping that number right now. Given the imminent lifting of the NDA, it isn't worthwhile to take the time, effort, additional staff and cost it will take to handle potentially a 60K+ hit to the forums especially since we just did an upgrade so it could handle 32K. Once the NDA is lifted, the WAR Herald will come online.

I'm thinking that's only the date when you can download the client? and i think they'll invite collectors edition preorder people first and then send the rest out to regular edition preorder.

As well as creating your Mythic Warhammer account. No Start date for Open beta has been announced yet. Experience the glory of battle and the thrill of WAR before the game goes live.


The Open Beta will be level capped and content restricted. You will be allowed to choose any of the game's 20 unique careers and advance through rank 20. You will also be free to explore and battle across Tiers 1 and 2 of each army's homeland. Please note that any characters created during the Open Beta will NOT carry over into the live game as they will be wiped from the servers. To register for Open Beta:

* After August 15, 2008 visit the Mythic Entertainment Account Management website.

* When prompted, enter your Open Beta code.

I think it applies to collector as well as regular (at one time it may have been advertised as collector only, but with those sold out now...)


So they are giving a long restricted access open beta, and still wiping the characters. Hmmmm.
 
Anyone having trouble d/l the patch? Mine was going fine after I got the torrent on Sat, since Sun it starts then "The program was unable to complete the patch operation. Please try again later" 🙁
 
Wild guess but maybe the patch servers are down?

P.S. - 20 minutes and I am down downloading and all I need to do is just patch! Yipeee! 😛

EDIT: I managed to patch my copy. Now all I need to do is wait for the servers to open up. Man I can't wait 🙂
 
first to subscribe for beta and no invite 🙁 Been getting those stupid email news letters for years now from them even. Grr. Because of how bad MMO's have been when released, unless I get a chance to beta it out for free for a bit, I don't even want to bother purchasing it. So looks like I won't be playing WAR at all. Have fun guys.

preorder is only $10...you're guaranteed a spot , and technically, you don't even have to buy the game after that....

but i think it is a bit late now... perhaps your pc wasn't what they were looking for?
 
Taking the blizzard way I see. Torrents for games like this is a nightmare. I really hope they dont take it live. It will lose a notch on my ratings for doing so.

well... technically speaking... with live, you should have the dvds already.

i don't mind torrents as it legitimizes its use. and you get what you paid for. 😉

guess that's why the servers are down for the past 2 days and not a lot of complaints.

It seems to me that they are prepping for the new wave of beta players to jump into the game.

Well I don't care for that means of file downloading either but it is only used to get the initial player client for the beta. When it launches you'll have DVD's to install from so it will be a non-issue. The actual patching for the beta game client did not involve the use of torrents and instead used a patch server it seems client ala...LOTRO, EQ2, etc.

That is good to hear. Nothing irritated me more than Blizzards torrent for patching. Which after 1-2 months of complaints finally got their patches released on FP.

blizzards torrents work fine :/

never had an issue with WoW downloads/patcher, and i recently DLed D2 and D2:LOD from the blizz store through torrents and it was flawless they are pretty big, few gigs anda they were done in under an hour. pretty awsome that if you have your CD key you can just download the installer for free.
