uh, no.

North and South Korea pledged to seek a permanent peace agreement replacing the 54-year-old cease-fire that ended the Korean War

so, we're still operating under the cease-fire, not a permanent declaration of peace.

So does this mean Hawkeye, Klinger, Radar and Hot Lips Houlihan can finally come home?

Narmer, regardless of its timing, how exactly is this new agreement a bad thing?

Please try to better articulate your major problems with the new agreement.

Look to the past. It'll tell you exactly what's going to happen in the future. Once NK gets its oil and handout, it'll stall and play hardball. IMHO, it's better to entice them with capitalism rather than a dumb agreement on a defensive weapon (the nukes).

This treaty has more to do with South Korea stepping in and dealing with the North instead of allowing us to get into the way.

Wow, I was stoked when I saw the news, but the portion of...

This isn't the monumental event I was hoping for. A step in the right direction though, certainly.

This treaty has more to do with South Korea stepping in and dealing with the North instead of allowing us to get into way.

That's exactly what it is. Seoul has long been tired of us cornholing dialogue after dialogue with political blunders and playing along with Kim Jong Il's infantile notion of politics.

Cant say I trust the north still, somehow I think they are going to bilk what they can from everyone and then start it all over again, Although ill hope that is not the case.

They are and continue to be enticed "with capitalism".

What we should do is cutoff all supplies to that nation and starve them out. Why we prop that regime up with shipments is beyond me.

We prop up that country because we aren't insane. Do you have any doubt that they would start a war as opposed to collapsing in upon themselves?

North Korea wouldnt start a war because they aren't suicidal. If we let the country start to fall on itself we'd have a better bargaining position to actually make things happen. By propping them up, we're making them more annoying to deal with in the future. North Korea has always proven themselves to be untrustworthy in the past. They take but they never give anything in return.
