Still too weak. Why can't you guys just accept that it makes coffee that is too weak for my taste? "You should try this!" "No, he should try that!" "No, I know, he should try standing on his head and pissing sideways...." Sheesh. how bout the company makes a product that can produce coffee that is the same strength as a drip coffee maker or a french press?
If others like the machine, good for them. I think the concept is very good. But the coffee it produces is just plain bad, in my opinion.
Wow. Maybe you should lay off the coffee...
I'm a big fan of really strong coffee after getting used to drinking sludge in the Army for four years. It helps to know what you are working with if you are trying to find something that you like. Different cups have different amounts of coffee and can help:
- Typical k-cups: 9 grams
- Extra bold k-cups: 11 grams
- "Travel mug" k-cups: 13 grams
- Barista Prima k-cups: 14 grams
- "Brew Over Ice" k-cups: 14 grams
So a Barista Prima or travel mug has ~50% more coffee than a regular cup. Brewed into 8 ounces, that can greatly increase the coffee's strength.
Also, the new Keurig Vue (which I just got) has a "strong" setting. This slows down the water injection and allows the water to soak a little more before. I tried it both ways and the strong setting does help. It won't improve bad coffee, but it does make the same coffee taste a little stronger.
I find that a "travel mug" pod brewed into an 8 oz cup on the strong setting provides a reasonably strong cup of coffee. Won't grow hair on your teeth, but much better than the normal cups.
The variety of "travel mug" coffee is smaller, but you can sub Barista Prima, and usually find them on sale for the same price as normal cups. If you have a brewer at work, picking up a box of the travel mug pods to keep in your desk is a good idea.
