Not true. Both the 5800K and 6800K were cheaper immediately following their launch, especially with promotional motherboard bundles, than they could be had for several months after launch.

via promotions but wasn't the a10-5800k $150-160USD? same for the 6800k compared to current pricing?

Nope. The 5800K was $130~ at launch, which is what I paid from NewEgg. In addition, there was a $10 promo with the purchase of a motherboard. Just checked the invoice, in fact.

6800K launched about $20 higher.

I'd bet money it was NewEgg. I'd wait until tomorrow, after they've sent out a Kaveri launch e-mail, which I'm pretty sure they will. The fact that there's currently not even a mention of the bundled BF4 has me thinking NewEgg hasn't really even pushed the Go button yet.

well so you think AMD marked 7850k up or newegg?

6800K is currently 142$ on AMD s price list , surely that
the 7850K is at this level with its predecessor price being
slashed in a few hours.

Also since Newegg seems to benefit from the US litecoin miners
it s quite possible that there is high demand from theses people
for FM2+ MBs along with GCN iGPU and dGPU , that would be
the most power efficient combination for such a task.

litecoin? I though this only affected $250+ dgpus?

there is a tiger 5mins away from me, I wonder if they will have it in store, the mobo and ram come tomorrow too, might just be perfect.

I hope Microcenter has them today. I have been running a couple FM2+ boards for a while. I want to see how it compares to my 6800k @ 4.6, igpu 1025 and 2400 DDR3. I also want to see how it does with the 7750 DDR5 and possibly the r7 260x I have on hand.

Does anyone know if the Kaveri APUs will be able to run 12 threads (supposedly 4 on the CPU cores + 8 on the GPU gives 12 "compute cores") out of the box without any further configuration? I'm wondering since this would potentially make an excellent alternative to Vishera if so, which I'm considering putting in a machine designed for primecoin mining.
