The joke about geeks choosing between a bed and a computer aren't new.

I recently got a house and went under budget on a bunch of things and ended up with some cash left over in my budget. I've been using the same twin bed for almost two decades, and now have room for a larger bed. But at the same time, my PC's finally hit the end of the upgrade path. Effectively more RAM requires a new CPU and that requires new MB (unless I get expensive DDR400...), and the new MB either needs a new controller for the IDE or new SATA drives, and the 330W PS is probably a bit close to the top.

...so I chose to build a new PC rather than get a new bed.

A "Life" is still far from my grasp :(

I really would have picked the bed. I could care less about upgrading my computer anymore.

definitely recommend a mattress topper. Will save that bed for a few more years and give you a much better night's sleep

It's a twin. I'm not even a big guy and they are too small now. Not to mention if you happen to have "company" it's not a lot of real estate.

Exactly.

...maybe I'll use the government's "stimulus package" to get one in May. They'll love the irony in that one. :D

I know. All I care about is if it runs and has access to the internet.

I would get a good mattress at least. You spend 1/3 of you life in bed, you might as well get something that will make your body feel good.

However, I've gotten to the point where I've stopped upgrading my computer so often. My current desktop is three years old and I'm happy with it.

I would have gone with the mattress. Much better return on investment.

I don't know about this one...

A true geek wouldn't still have a computer that runs on DDR400.

The computer should've came before the house...

Stop molesting her whilst she is asleep will help.

I really doubt that. As bad as depreciation is on cars, depreciation on computer parts is way worse. Regardless of cost, any car is most likely worth more than ANY PC more than a couple of months old.

A real geek gets a bed with a computer built-in. Turn in your geek card.

You spend 1/3 of your life in bed, it is the one thing I think people should go over budget on. :) I'm assuming most don't spend one third of their life on the PC, unless you play WoW. ;)

Heh dude I bought a $700 upgrade for my 4yr old computer instead of beater car.
My computer gets 0 mpg, but then again it's same as infinite MPG in my case
