The Jena 6 kids who were set free....

I'm thinking that these guys "accepted" donations for helping for all the legal fees for the guys who attacked the white students that drew pictures of guys getting hanged at their school.

Am I on the right path?

No. That's not even close to the real story. Nobody drew pictures of guys getting hanged.

Who told you that? What about the guys who pulled a shotgun on the black kids in a convenience store?

the Jena "6" attacked a innocent white kid. they beat him unconscious. they stomped on his head etc.

it hit the news. Sharpton and Jackson came to the rescue and begged for donations.

All the reports I read said that the white kid who got beat up was instigating a fight, and that the nooses in the tree were his idea.

What does the shotgun incident have to do with it? Why aren't you complaining about that guy going free?

I can't watch this video btw because I'm at work

Media Myths about the Jena 6 - This is from a local reporter in Jena, LA who's been covering all this from the beginning.

Jena, La. - By now, almost everyone in America has heard of Jena, La., because they've all heard the story of the "Jena 6." White students hanging nooses barely punished, a schoolyard fight, excessive punishment for the six black attackers, racist local officials, public outrage and protests ? the outside media made sure everyone knew the basics.

There's just one problem: The media got most of the basics wrong. In fact, I have never before witnessed such a disgrace in professional journalism. Myths replaced facts, and journalists abdicated their solemn duty to investigate every claim because they were seduced by a powerfully appealing but false narrative of racial injustice.

I should know. I live in Jena. My wife has taught at Jena High School for many years. And most important, I am probably the only reporter who has covered these events from the very beginning.

click through for the rest.

From the link above:

The committee further concluded that the three young teens had no knowledge that nooses symbolize the terrible legacy of the lynchings of countless blacks in American history.

Great history classes in that school. Isn't Louisiana somewhere near the South!?!?

The three were accused by police of jumping a white man as he entered the store and stealing a shotgun from him.

Who enters a grocery store with a shotgun?

The moment Jackson and/or Sharpton show up, I lose interest in the story. Even if there was racism against blacks, their presence causes the credibility in everyones (black and white) story to dissipate.

the kid had nothing to do with the noose's. the early account said he did but it was latter proven false.

get your facts correct if you want to argue.

the kid they beat up was innocent. yet that seems to be missed in nearly all the new stories about them.

for the record in other threads on them i ahve said the kids that hung the noose need to be in trouble. they have already been kicked out of school (buit allowed to go to alternitive school wich is just as bad).

Maybe they shouldn't have been robbing the store?

Everyone is guilty of something here, and they should all suffer appropriate consequences. My point was that the Jena 6 kids were made into Heros. They were presented as guests on stage at the BET Music Awards show on TV. This youtube video is just a slap in the face, and a huge dissapointment.

maybe you should get some facts also. they did not rob a store.

bialey (oen of the jena 6) claimed he was jumped a few days before. he was with some friends when he seen one of his attackers. when they confronted the guy he pulled the shotgun. they took the shotgun from him and beat him up.

bailey was charged with assault and theift for it.

Since lots of the kids in school can't recognize most of the states on a map, this counts how? Maybe Miss South Carolina will get them a map?
