I agree with Wiz on the TTT thing and I only bump a thread with a TTT when another TeAm member has posted a nice long post explaining the details just a post or two up.

I see both sides of this issue and have been blasted by a few people for bumping these threads.

What ever you guys think is best I will follow!

I have bumped them to death and can see how some people could get upset but really feel as medic does,

<< Don't like it..ignore it. >>

I might not feel this way if we had say 2 or 20 threads running in each forum but we don't!

If slowing down is what we decide to do then I have no problem doing so! :D

I say we keep the threads going during the race as long as we're getting lots of new members each day. We've continued to get huge numbers of new members over the last week or two, which leads me to believe that not everyone has read the threads. :)

My feeling is that some of the excessive bumping may have turned off some people from wanting to join the team. While they have undoubtedly helped us out so far, they are beginning to reach a certain point where, I believe, we should scale back some of the mad bumping.

I agree with Fardringle that any exciting news make bumping legitimate, or if the thread has fallen 3-4 pages back.

I was going through the Hot Deals forum the other day and was actually annoyed to find the SETI recruitment thread up near the top. I was looking for Hot Deals, not SETI. However, someone had a question in that thread, so I answered and bumped it at the same time. I think that's legit, but I think at most, we should bump only a few times per day.

So, in summary, make your posts as informative as possible, and scale back the bumping. :)

Just my $0.02. :)

Here are some of the things brought up in this thread that I agree with:

1) We should provide some kind of information or answer a question when we bump a thread. I think alot of the complaints I have seen have been people saying that we are just bumping and not giving information.

2) I think this race provides us with an opportunity to recruit that we wouldn't ordinarily have. I don't think when this is over that we will have the ability to post like this again until at least the next race.

3) We do need to look at other avenues of recruitment. We can't rely on just the threads in the forum we need to get friends and family.

4) We should promote other DC projects as well.

I have to go along with Medic though and say that there is no way we are saturating these boards. There are over 82,000 members of these forums. We don't even come close to constituting 3%. Thats right we have made great strides in the number of people we have, but the TeAm is only 2.2% of all Anandtech members. If you throw in all DC crunchers we still probably don't top 4%.

We are talking about 6-7 threads out of thousands. I believe the vast majority who have complained are people who had no intention of joining in the first place.

Now that said I think we need to do a couple of things to make this smoother:

When a new thread is created, the title needs to be stripped from the old thread so a member of the TeAm doesn't bump that one by accident. We should only bump the threads linked in Engineer's thread here. We should also let the first thread drop to the 3rd page on the bigger forums and the 2nd on the slower forums before a new one is created.

As one of the people who has bumped the threads a fair amount I would like to say Migroo that this has in no way offended me. I would like to point out also though that I have received PMs from the threads but not a single one of them was a complaint. They were all from people asking for help getting the client set up or asking for help getting their password from Berkeley.
