The Island

I saw it last night as well. That was a really cool movie. TONS of action. I don't remember how many times I said Whoa, that had to hurt, or somethign similar.

For those that don't know, the point of the movie is the main characters live in what they think is a society after some sort of world contamination hits. They live their lives waiting to win the "lottery" which gets them to go to "The Island" which is the last paradise on earth. But in reality they are clones of people in the real world and get used basically as organ farms in case the real person needs a transplant or something like that. Of course they figure that out and obviously want nothing to do with it.

But it was a lot of FUN to watch. Somewhat predictable at times and somewhat rediculous like when they big R sign falls off the building and they just get up and wlak away. (You'll know what I mean).

All in all, Definitely a Great time.

But they sure did give you a nice hint towards the end of the movie when the discover how to Make Out. Yum. And damn, she and Jessica Alba could be sisters... They look a lot alike
 
I just came back from a screening of The Island. all i really have to say is "meh". It wasn't -bad-, it just wasn't particularly good. It's kinda like iRobot without the story... It's every element that makes a summer blockbuster, romance, suspense, action.

the part that detracted for me was some of the action actually. I know you wanna have big explosions and what have you, but one of the mid-movie scenes in LA : you just kinda go "man.... this is just.. wow... " it gets to the point it's unbelievable.

It's not a bad flick : I'd say go watch it if you're bored want to see a blockbuster. It just wont be spectacular.

Pre-release showings probably. Lotta movies are released a couple of days early at 'select theaters'.
 
prerelease showing indeed.

when someone asked the guy about why they had them (the showings were FREE on top of before release) he said "so people start talking about the movie, get a positive buzz when you guys go home and talk about how great the movie was to your friends"

i guess they didn't anticipate people might not think too highly of their film 😉
 
Scarlett Johansson is hot, but that movie sucked a fat one. Could the storyline be any more predictable? Could the caracters possibly be more one-dimensional? Probably not even if you tried.

dude it was an action movie. were you expecting an Oscar type of movie?
 
Heh, I enjoyed it for what it was. I was amazed at how bad its reviews were though...I mean come on, it was pretty sweet, or I thought so. At least it wasn't boring, I hate movies like that. It's odd, because the first part of the movie was the story, then comes the action. I think the story needed more substance, but even then I enjoyed it. And, yeah, Scarlett Johansson was hot. Need I say more?
 
Okay, i just saw teh Island.

Really, i wasn't expecting it to be all that good...but i was wrong.

IMO, certainly one of the best movies so far this year.

And with MSN Search information centres in the future...who can go wrong 😛


Oh, & OMG Scarlett is teh hawtness *drool*
Even if you don't like the movie...she's worth the ticket 😀
