Strict and full interpretation of Islamic Law (or any other old religion's laws from hundreds to thousands of years ago) would result in a barbaric (IMO) society when compared against modern countries today. It would result in barbaric punishment such as stonings and such. Even worse, if you change your religion and acknowledge it, you are put to death.
