Hi everyone,

I dont usually post in Off Topic but a lot of my friends have been discussing jobs and what to do/where to do it...I know some of us have kick-@ss jobs where you get PAID to surf Fatwallet, others are stuck flippin burgers...I think this should actually be in HOT DEALS since a great job is a very hot deal, but lets keep it here for now and see where it goes...

I know maybe some with the best jobs dont wanna reveal who they work for, but if you are comfortable doing so im sure a lot of us would love to get some insight, and especially if they are hiring!! No doubt there is some SERIOUS talent amongst us...

A few guidelines to streamline things:
try to keep posts to the BEST jobs, ones eiether YOU yourself work in or know someone who does. "best" can mean pays well, has good hours, great perks, is extremely fulfilling, etc BE SPECIFIC!...If you are able, give the name of the company and its location, and if they are hiring, give any details you can

And since I started it, Ill be the first to bare all:

I work in a law firm in San Francisco, CA as a law clerk...pay isnt bad (high $30,000's) but my schedule makes up for it since I am able to come in when I want, dress how I want, and take off when I want (have a cool hippie boss from berkeley!)...after 21 years of school thats the kind of freedom I needed!! I only work about 10/hrs a week so I have lots of time to surf for deals, but no internet at work...

My friend works at Maxim, an electronics firm in Silicon Valley..he is an engineer, started at about $45k 3 years ago and is into the $70s now..he only worked 15-20 hours a week a first year or so but works full time now...he gets huge bonuses and stock options and got in at a good time, and his portfolio is nearing $1million now...

I work for Nikon Precision. My base pay is $43,000, but I get a LOT of overtime. Nikon hires mostly ITT graduates and Navy veterans. They have offices wherever Intel has fabs. If you decide to pursue a job at Nikon let me know first, as I will recommend you and garner a $3000 finders fee.

The job is good because it is challenging, it pays well, and I get to keep up on all the latest Intel information (I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. :)) The downside is, I currently work 12 hours a day, six days a week because we are so shorthanded.

I pity the fool who has to do investment banking :)

But seriously, what kind of hours and work do those guys have to do? Sure they make bank, but at what cost? Hopefully I'll do an internship this summer as a financial planner, so I want to know more about what the world of finance entails.

I install lithography machines. They come from Japan in pieces and I get to play jigsaw and put them together and make sure they work. Each machine weighes 16 tons, costs several million dollars, and takes one month to put together. Then I spend the next two months or so running tests on it to verify that it is as accurate now as it was in Japan.

I have the perfect job for lazy bastards like myself. I work in a university computer/study lab 12am - 8am and make $9.63 40 hours a week :). I spend the majority of my shift either surfing the net or reading. Every now and again I will have to help somebody or go push in chairs and once a week or so I clean the 50 monitors. The only really crappy thing I have to do is unlock the other computer labs every morning before I leave. Get tired off walking all over the damn campus everday espcially when its cold.

edit
wanted to add
I am working right NOW!!!! hehe

My current job kicks ass...
I do technical support for an undisclosed company, working 6:00pm to 6:00am
I only get $12.00 and hour, but I don't have to do a helluva lot of work.
I mostly sit on my ass, and wait for the phone to ring... But it doesn't
Last week I worked 36 hours, and spent a whole 8 minutes of that actually doing tech support... The rest of it was spent surfing the 'net, and reading...

I'm a freelance musician. Get my days off, get free meals and open bar on top of my pay, even when the guests are paying $500+ each for a plate of food at charity events. Downside, don't get many evenings off with my wife and son. (although he doesn't stay up too late). Not quite the same category as most of you, but it's nice to get paid for something you'd do for free anyway.
