I classify young Koreans in 2 categories.

1) Pathetic teens
2) Good enough to carry an intelligent conversation and be friends

The odds of finding 2)-type Korean is somewhere around 500:1 in Vancouver. :)

<< Why is Starcraft so big in Korea?! I haven't paid attention to it lately, but i remember seeing most of the top players were from Korea.
>>

my comical approach to this:

"Japanese have better things to play with, Chinese are too poor to have a computer @ every home (generally speaking), Koreans.. that's why they play StarCraft all the time"

-My japanese friend, Kuji

;) You're talking to an Asian Studies major here. :)

Give me a few days and I'll probably flood your PM with questions.

My little sister is driving me nuts with her idolizing of G.O.D. I really liked her better when she used to be a big 98° fan. :)

As far as I know, all Korean last names follow a Chinese character. We just pronounce them differently.

Overclocking seems to be big in Korea also. Doesn't Tomshardware have a Korean site too? :)

I was watching a PBS show regarding the US's role and influences in South Korea. And they showed that a minor but still noticable population seems to dislike the US Military's presence in Korea. They shouted messages such as "Yankee Go Home!" and other slogans. What's the deal? Don't they know that the North is capable of taking and capturing the capital in a day??

I guess now that we are living in a "peaceful" period, they think they no longer need American support.

I once wrote a History paper with a bunch of proof that Americans and the South Korean government were as equally responsible as the North Koreans for triggering the Korean War. But it's too controversial so I won't get into that. :)

<< I'd like to read it... do you still have it in an electronic format?? >>

I do, but not really willing to share it.

I wrote it in high school. A very weak essay, but I did read a lot of interesting info. :)

Darn... I guess that means I will have to do my own research and come to my own conclusions. Damn.;)

bleeb,

Send me an email. I'll send it to you if I can find it. Just don't criticize my essay too much. :)

They call me Cheater Lee. but generally I don't like to cheat because cheating is bad and wrong and you only cheat yourself in the end. but its nice to see what other people have come up with and then do my own research and come up with my own opinions. Sorta like having a reference to work off of.
