My problem? NO POST. nothing, no beep, sweep or creep. fans spin but thats it.

I RMA'd my mobo 2 weeks ago cause i thought that was the issue so I am using the second one. I've swapped out the memory to no effect (bought from a local store and returned). I've tried a different CPU to no effect. I've reset CMOS countless times, reseated CPUs, reapplied thermal paste, stripped down to the bare essentials (CPU, memory and onboard video), I've checked, rechecked and triple checked connections. I've tried my other PSU. I've searched forums high and low. Nothing.

I'm out of ideas. I just sent for an RMA of everything I got and am about to throw in the towel.

That is, unless, I'm messing up- which is about the only other variable. I have no idea what to do. No other systems to check components with. I'm at my witts end.

:'(

Have you tried just using one DIMM or the other?

About the only thing that I can think of is that the mobo's BIOS is too old to support the 555. You could potentially grab a $33 Sempron and test with that.

yeah, tried different memory, tried using one stick only...ect

the CPU I just bought to test is an athlon x4 640 and still nothing... but i do get bent over for a 25% restocking fee.

any other ideas? pleasE!!

Did you try getting it to POST with the board outside the case? Did you plug the 4-pin connector from the PSU into the motherboard? Just throwing out a couple ideas. I guess it is possible you just got two bad boards in a row. Unlikely, but possible.

I second testing the board outside of the case, and double checking the 4-pin/8-pin CPU power connector. Also, try clearing CMOS, and making sure the CMOS jumper is in the normal position because there have been boards shipped in the past with it in the CLEAR position, meaning the board will not POST unless jumper was moved.

Try hooking a PC speaker to the board to see if it makes beeps.

user error guys, isn't it always... really embarrassing actually. Got it working swell, quite an upgrade from my AMD athlon xp 2500+, 1gb DDR400, Nvidia 6800, 120gb HDD... lovin it!

Mod close plz

you could at least say what the problems was, this isn't just an helpdesk where you come and people are there to serve you. The people want to know, a forum is supposed to be for two-way exchange.

Agreed. Also, it could possibly help other people who are having problems with a build, if you could state the problem & solution. No need to be embarrassed; we all screw up at times.
