I have found myself heavily considering going with a price dropped X2, but if I did, I would get a new mobo anyways (running an AV8-SE with a 3500+, can barely get an extra 200mhz from this chipset).

I could go back to Nforce chipset now, I dumped the 4x512 sticks and went with 2x1000, since I have one of the first gen 3500+ that wouldnt run 4x512 at DDR400 with Nforce chispsets.

So I would be buying an AM2 mobo, since it wouldnt be wise to get another S939 mobo, which would mean new RAM anyways.

CUrrently, my USB no workie, so I have been having to use my laptop for pics.

Damn you Intel!!!!! I want my Conroe!

I've been jonesing for a month, and amping out since the 14th. My motherboard and power supply come in tomorrow, I have the ram already, and I can't wait to chop up my AthlonXP 2500 for parts.

If I have to wait until the 7th I may freak out and buy an PD 805 to hold me over for a week (not really...just ranting)

I get to sit back and watch all this drama. Right now I have around $1000 in cash waiting to buy this stuff, but I get about 300 more at the end of august. So no use buying now, when prices can drop some on the things, other than the CPU.

Anyone think the prices will increase by the end of August? Hopefully its not due to demand....

New thought, NO ONE BUY CONROE... WAIT 3 WEEKS!!! They will have to drop the prices and I will not have to worry about waiting for my conroe!!!

rklaver, I saw that you have a P965 MB.

There is a thread saying that ALL P965 MB C1 stepping are NOT Conroe compatible.

C2 MB 965 do not ship until much later!!!

Speaking of Mobos, I'm thinking of just going with the Abit AB9-Pro and then upgrading to a Crossfire board in a few months once the prices have a chance to come down and I hopefully have a better selection to choose from (possibly 2X 16 PCIe). Think this sounds like a decent plan or should I just shell out the $250 for the Asus P5W-DH Deluxe now?

*sigh* I've been trudging along with a Willamette 1.9 P4 with RDCRAP for the past 4.5 years... which should have been upgraded last December if not earlier, except Intel was making spaceheaters back then...

Now, what happens?
a) Intel, instead of rewarding loyalists like me or Mr. Dell who have NEVER considered defecting to the dark evil world of AMD, delays the launch to accomodate STEVE JOBS.

Steve Jobs, who two years ago was making fun of Intel. Steve Jobs, whose main goal in life is making fashion accessories for teenage girls with rich daddies.

THAT Steve Jobs gets the Conroes before us who have stuck by Intel throughout the doom of RDCRAP, NetBurst, Preshot (*points to his Deleron running MythTV...*), etc.

Disgusting.

b) The availability on these things, at least up here in Canada, is apparently going to be spotty. Seems Intel is too busy selling Mr. Jobs chips to put in his overpriced workstations to remember to package just a couple hundred more to send to the Great White Northern Land.

All of a sudden I'm tempted to buy an AMD chip and burn my iPod. I sure as hell am not buying one of those second generation nanos no matter how slick the evil marketerer of Cupertino makes them, that's for sure.

(oh, and not only that, but Mr. Jobs' launch date... happens to be a public holiday up here. So one more day to wait before my C2D can ship...)

Zipzoomfly doesn't have them yet. They're all listed as being backordered.

I stand corrected. I didn't catch the E6300, but all the others are on backorder.

ive been waiting a while now to upgrade and the closer it gets the more ansty i get.

I am SO tempted to get an AM2 system right now and get rid of this POS sempron 2600+ (i HATE IT).


But i will wait it out, mid august seems SOOOO far away right now.
