If I remember correctly, I got my Intel i5-4570 for $209 in December 2014 and my Windows 7 Professional 64-bit OEM for $150. Both went up in price after that.

I'm was relieved once I built my machine. It wasn't too expensive and I have a machine that's much smoother than my old dual-core.

EDIT: That was in Canadian dollars at newegg.ca.

I must admit... it made the i7-2600k I just picked up for $120 CDN all the sweeter. :p

I mentioned a couple weeks ago that I noticed a few items on Newegg.ca (mostly on my wishlist) went up, an i3 4360 went from $140 to $190 for example (now $203). Prices of games (mostly console) has gone up too, funny story about that, since I'm near the US border I save at least $15 by buying a game down there (no I don't drive and I don't have to pay anything to get down to the US). WA has a 6.5% tax so that'll be $63.88 for the same game that costs $89.59 in BC with 12% tax, and the exchange is $60 USD = $73 CAD.

PS- gonna do a bit of parts shopping in Seattle when I go to a Seahawks game this fall.

Sound like you have the best of both worlds if you live in BC and shop in the US!

Holy sweet jesus...5 years ago you had to pay the same exact amount for 4c/8t and you would not get any igpu at all.

Thats like a $160 gift from intel...

Yeah but in five years, the price per transistor in smartphones has dropped 80%. The price per transistor in GPUs has dropped 70%. The price per transistor of flash has dropped more 80%. The price per transistor for Intel CPUs has dropped... not even 30% if you discard the useless IGP tax transistors. To go from 800 million usable transistors 5 years ago, to scarcely more than a billion today is a disgrace. Clearly they are gouging relative to the rest of the semiconductor industry.

and some people gladly pay for that. Others don't and buy AMD. All depends on how badly you need that extra 10fps

Over here in Australia a 4790K is $464, a 4590K is $295 and a 5820K is $524. Dollar has fallen but the thing is I'd bet $100 that the stock already in the back was marked up anyway. I bought a 4770 non K in December 2013 for around $350, a 4790 non K is currently $412. The 5930K is also stupid high. And no shipping CPUs are not THAT expensive.

I don't get your logic here, the i7-4770k is 40% faster than the i7-875k plus it has the 40% real estate hogging igpu bonus.
