I've never done it before. This'll be an experiment all around. I found a gas can, but it has a minor crack in the bottom that doesn't appear to go all the way through. I'm gonna try to rescue it cause I love NO-SPILL gas cans. It isn't a size I exactly need, but if I can do a good repair, I can find a use for it. One less piece of plastic junk for the trash, at least temporarily.
Got impatient. I was gonna do it tomorrow, but I went out and did it today. No idea how well I did, and it looks ugly, but it's just a gas can. I melted the stick on top, and tried to mash it into the crack with the iron. I'll find out next time I mow the lawn. I'm gonna put about a gallon into the can and fill the mower from that. I can then let it puff up on the driveway, and see if it holds. Good way to douche out the can before I use the fuel for something I care about.

Side note... Looks like harborfreight prices went up 20%-30%. That's only on a few things I already knew the prices of and kept in my head. Dunno if that's fuckery, or normal inflation, but shit's more expensive.

Yeah, there's a fine line between flowing HDPE and burned HDPE.

Went back to harborfreight and got 4 more pair of gloves. I'm thinking they're winners, at least at the sale price. Also got a very cheap plastic caliper, and some semi disposable earplugs. I've needed a caliper a few times recently, and I don't have one. Won't be doing any machining with a $2 caliper, but it should serve every need I have. The plugs are in case I lose my good ones, or need to give someone a pair. I think it was 50 pair of nice looking silicone plugs for $7. Worth keeping in the truck.

I like HF, but all their best deals are in-store only and they're a bit of a drive.

I'm lucky. The one I always went to is right where I go grocery shopping. 10 miles away, but I'm already there. The one I went to today is a fairly new store only 2 miles away. I don't go to that one often, cause I get groceries almost every week, but it's nice if I need something *now*, and can't wait til the weekend.

I like manual mills. It's all I've used since the early 90s. I previously had a blade "mill", but those are awful. Better than nothing if you have a bag of beans and you want coffee, but they're only a little better than nothing.

The electric grinder couldn't get the grind size quite right. A setting of 5 pours through a little too fast, and 4 locks up the machine. This hand grinder has finer adjustments. I feel like I'm becoming a coffee snob d-bag, but hey, the coffee tastes better. 😛

I might have to try a manual one at some point too. I have an electric bur grinder buy I find sometimes it will go into "runaway" mode where it just spins excessively fast without grinding as it's just pushing the beans away instead of letting them fall in. I might try modding it at some point where it just pulses instead of spinning continuously. I got it as a 10 year anniversary gift at work, feels like it's almost brand new... but this summer I'll be on my 19th year. 😱

I was skeptical that a proper grind would make a difference, but I replaced the burrs in my DF64 and there was a big difference. Ended up selling it now that I can't drink coffee, but the little things really do add up.

omg i just got a £89 Epomaker TH87 keyboard where "TH" evidently stands for THOKKK because it sounds absolutely gorgeous, and, sounds and feels better in every way to my Realforce, that after several years of abuse was getting ready to give up the ghost.

I can relate to that feeling, as I just had it recently. I have had mechanical keyboards for a long time, but only big brand stuff. And while I had some good experiences with switches such as the ROG Azoth, and enjoyed Cherry reds for quite some time in the past, it wasn't until I just started buying different switches that I started to feel some of the cream and thock experiences. And that was all in the past few months I discovered and had that same feeling.

The feel of the magnetic switches I ended up with is absolutely perfect, but the sound is not a creamy thock. More clacky than thocky, but the feel is worth it. But in my mind I dream of having both...

It's pretty amazing what you can get when you go with lesser known Chinese brands if you do enough research to get the right ones.

my feelings exactly. 5 years ago you would need to buy two sets of switches, frankenstein the shell from one onto the stem of another, add your own aftermarket springs, lube the whole thing, solder them onto a PCB that cost more than a brand new cherry board, and it wouldn't even come with keycaps.
And today for less than $100 i can get the same quality preassembled, on hotswap PCB, with foam padding, PBT keycaps, wireless + BT + wired, programmable RGB (not that i want it, mine's off), Mac compatibility, USB-C, i gotta tell ya this is one time i'm happy about capitalism.

You know way more about keyboard building than I do. I only got into messing around with keyboards, keycaps, and switches, in the last six months. But I came at the right time lol

Lubing switches seems like something I would despise.

Next time try the purple fiberglass welding rods, they work great for those kinds of fixes. Just make sure the gas can is full and no fumes are coming out of it.
