Funny, I just ordered this:

I have a few Milwaukee tools, no power tools though. My buddy and I were working on a house this weekend and really liked the utility knife for it's ease of use and blade changeout. I also needed a new pair of wire stripers/plyers so got this combo.

I need some help.

I've been trying to find some USB A to USB C fast charging cables.

I bought a few on Amazon but they're not fast charging at all. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082Z1YYRK?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

Can anyone recommend me a USB A to USB C fast charging cable please that works for you in a normal wall charger and car charger?
i have no experience with current cables, but LTT is coming out with cables built to nerd standards. they have their Labs division where industry specialists test and validate products to check that they are conforming to industry specs. so they have the testing equipment and Linus' merchandise team are developing their usb c cable product. Linus doesnt penny pinch if it means a better product that does what the spec says it should do. they are internal trial testing samples right now, so maybe sometime next year.

I have a couple of these and I can't tell the difference from the stock Samsung cable and they seem to work really well. I can't back it up with actual data, but my gut says they are as fast as any.

The last time I bought a hard drive was in 2021. Luckily I haven't needed any more storage since then. It was a 14TB for $176. WD Elements probably, and I shucked it and used it either in my server or as an offline backup. It must have been a sale because a few months before then I bought the same drive for $280, and almost a year before then I bought one for $200.

If I'm splurging, I'll buy Anker.
Otherwise, Lisen is a decent brand that often has sales on Amazon.

Perhaps you should consider replacing your USB-A chargers. 😛 20W is considered basic now, but 3/$15 is a good deal:

I'm surprised your unhappy with it. Those have been around for decades. My son has one he's been using for at least ten years. Maybe Milwaukee just screwed up the design?

Yeah maybe this particular one is just a bad design or something, I found it was really hit and miss whether it worked well or not.

I'm actually on Ryobi as far as power tools go, they are essentially "poor man's Milwaukee". Made in same factory. Milwaukee has lot of specialty tools that the other makers don't really make though, especially lineman tools. That's probably where their main focus is these days.

Did a Digikey order, lot of misc boring parts like resistors and rectum fryers but also bought a STM32 programmer and STM32 chips, along with some DIN enclosures so I can test fit my PCBs. The smallest enclosure doesn't fit quite well but the others are good. If I do another run of those PCBs I'll want to make them about 2mm less wide.

The STM32 stuff is going to be fun to mess with, had been meaning to play around with that for a while and graduate from 8 bit MCUs. I have some Ethernet Phy chips and POE PD controller chips I bought previously and my goal is to build ethernet based RTUs for automation that are POE powered. The RTUs will fit in the same style din enclosure as the relays and be used to monitor and control stuff including the relays via a basic telnet interface. Basically anything you can think of that can be monitored via dry contact or controlled by sending a small signal. Anything with a MCU requires certification but the relay controllers should be legal to sell as-is if I derate the voltage to about 30V AC. Still need to verify this. Will sell those and see how it goes and if it's worth continuing with more advanced stuff.

Anything that falls into RF (even wired stuff can potentially produce unwanted RF) starts to get more complicated to legally sell so will probably crowdfund that part as it's 10 grand minimum to certify a product.

After looking at the entire certification requirement and processes and how they differ in each countries it makes me wonder how electronic stuff we buy is as cheap as it is.

Thank you @manly Anker's probably out of my budget though.
I was being slightly facetious about Anker. They are now a "premium" brand, so they can price accordingly. But their cables are pretty affordable. (I buy Lisen because I'm a cheap bastard.) Anker also has an 18 month warranty that I can trust; who knows with the cheap Chinese brands?

I actually don't know all the ins and outs of USB-C charging, but it can be somewhat confusing. Personally, I wouldn't buy anything with a USB-A plug right now, so if I was in your shoes, I'd buy such a cable only out of necessity. Anker sells 2 for $10, but at a glance, it looks like it's (naturally) meant for older devices. What does this mean? According to the product info, it caps out at 15W "fast charging." It doesn't do PD or PPS, which Samsung relies upon for its newest devices. I suspect something like this explains why you didn't get the charging speeds you were expecting to get. (In other words, it's not the cable you bought but the limitation of the older USB-A tech.)

IMHO a better play is to transition fully to USB-C, which doesn't have to be very expensive. If you're looking for 25W+ charging, then you need newer chargers and cables. This is a decent brand and deal to consider:

Woohoo! Sawpod came today. Looking forward to using it. I was using thin straps I made myself, and the saw would get knocked out of alignment.

I already had the saw...

BTW, I *highly* recommend Silky saws. They're spendy, but they'll cut almost as fast as a chainsaw in small stuff. There isn't a better handsaw made.

British Airways was running some BF specials that were to hard to pass up. So..........

Two round trip tickets departing from Chicago and arriving in Barcelona. 18 days later we depart from Seville and land back in Chicago.

You have been thinking about this for awhile now. IMO you need to do it while you are still young. I went to Italy this fall with my wife and in my Italy pics thread I answered a lot of questions you had. You should really go before time slips away from you.

If you would like I will give you my copy of Rick Steve's: Italy book. Just PM me your address and I will send it to you. Before you ask this is not a con. Here is a link to my Heatware. I just have no use for it now and would love to pass it on to someone who could use it.

Yeah i know. This time around it is much more difficult than the Japan trip. 🙁

I am ready to do it, but the wife still couldn't decided if she wants to go in April or October.

I think this was all due to how the Japan trip had gone down. It was a fun trip, but because we missed the cherry blossom and the second half of the trip it starting to get hot, she can't decided if she wants to go when flowers starting to bloom for better sceneries (mid April) or when it is not as hot (early October). 😵

Early October! Even better would be late October. Miss halloween at home, and have a good excuse for not handing out candy. Not buying candy would be like a refund for your trip ;^)
