It's really not that bad. I did buy an epos impact 1061 ANC headset there for work because very few places sell that one and the other places didn't have the best reviews.

Other than that I returned something I got in late December for a $12 credit, and then bought $14 worth of canned air to clean my tech.

That's it. Two purchases on Amazon. One only due to having credit and one because it's extremely hard to find. I have found better options for everything else I need. Fuck you Bezos!

i'm almost down to no amazon purchases. there are a few random odds and ends i'll get from them that I can't find readily elsewhere, but otherwise i try to find online shops that are non-amazon or brick and mortar shops.
 
Being in my late 50s now, I did what zoomers would expect of me, and bought my gaming TV from Best Buy. 🤣 Bought a Onix B580 to mess with from Newegg. And all new hardware for the second bathroom from Lowes.

I bought my TV from Best buy as well. It was one of the best sales around on black Friday, within my budget, and I got to see it in person to confirm picture quality against competing models.

Best buy is reasonably competitive for a lot of electronics and appliances. It's only specialized stuff that I'll go to online stores (B&H)

I have surprisingly started using BB quite a bit.. last 2 air conditioners, last 2 tv's, last 2 routers, few smart speakers.

Newegg stock quality declined.. defective TV's. shitty routers that died within a year. Beginning to think they just shipped garbage to me.

Got started on BB with that router dying just as COVID started. It was still open in April. Then I realized before it died it had weak signal but my weak signal was due to my kitchen tiles blocking the wifi signal from 1 end to the other.. but place 2 on either side and it works amazingly well.

After that been on BB and ebay. Amazon only if I can't get something.

And don't forget you can use Best Buy on Ebay. I don't know how it is now. But I used to find stuff that their website didn't list. Or get better pricing.
 
A case of fishies, filters for the cat fountain, and some Barge cement. I spent A LOT of time figuring out the cement. The tube's super expensive per oz, but the smallest can is a quart, and I doubt I'd use that much in three lifetimes. Probably dry out before I even recovered the cost. I'd have jumped on 16oz, or even better, 8oz, but I decided on the tube. It's not really saving money when your glue is a hard lump in the can.

What kind of cat fountain do you have, @lxskllr ? We have a Drinkwell Platinum that is still going strong but it gets clogged up with hair reallly easily. The idea of a replaceable filter is intriguing, if that is the purpose that it serves.

Also, barge cement lol what's that for?
 
We had a local electronics store here that had been around for a long time so always supported them but they closed down recently, owner retired. That's where I bought my current TV from like 15 years ago. Now Best Buy would probably be where I buy. There's also Walmart, Canadian Tire, and The Source in the mall, that I can think of off the top of my head... but think Best Buy would probably have the better brands.

I've only had it a couple months, but I'm super happy with it. The cats love it. Instructions say to clean it every two weeks, which is a bit of a hassle, but seems about right with what I find inside. There's nothing particularly hard about cleaning, it's just unfun. I set an alarm in my phone to remind me. I reused the filters(a pump prefilter strainer, and the white upper filter) three times. I feel like that might have been one too many times. I rinse them well under hot water, but there could still be bacteria trapped inside. I'm just gonna reuse the filters once, so that would be one filter set/month. Not terrible. My concern is more with the material waste than the expense. The off brand I got(good reviews, but untested by me) is <$1 filter pair

For me specifically, it's to repair some shoe soles. I have some ooold boat shoes, that are almost new, but the glue gave way, and the soles are peeling up.

Generally, Barge cement is the standard in shoe repair, leatherwork, and other similar stuff. It's professional glue, which is why it comes in such big containers. However, I'm not a pro, and don't need a quart, much less a gallon, so I reluctantly bought the overpriced tube :^D
 
DynaVap 'Omni' dry herb vaporizer, and iSpire 'Wand' portable induction heater for it. It's a nice little device, but IDK if I'm going to keep it or not.

I was a little bit underwhelmed and having a difficult time rationalizing the price for what it is after it arrived. It's $199 for what is essentially a fancy, multi sectioned straight pipe made from machined titanium. It's only the size of a large pen. I have a few weeks to decide...they have a good return policy at least.
 
Just got this in the mail for my new car. I also have Street Fighter themed vanity plates on the way lol.

I really like the way it smells, and stuff that smells like trees is hard to come by. No guarantee they'll make it again next year. Their limited edition seasonals seem to be one time only. I put a spray or two on my shirt, and it lasts a pretty good while. On clearance $5/btl
 
Bought a bunch of stuff partly to beat the tariffs, but needed it.

New alarm for my 28 YO car, old one stopped working a few years ago, but what cinched the deal is the old system stopped disarming from the remote but prevented the car from starting sometimes. Had it ripped out 3 weeks ago.

Battery went 100% dead, wasn't stranded but missed an appointment. Got jumper cabled, went to my mechanic who tested and said battery was fine, alternator too. Ordered Gooloo GP3000 lithium polymer jumper system, should arrive today.

Ordered Viper 3205v car alarm system, arrived yesterday, from Best Buy, who is scheduled to install it in a couple weeks. Hope they know what they're doing and don't cut corners. They were terrific on the phone, so I'm hopeful. I have the parts from my old system and figure the horn may be significantly louder than the new one, it's sure a lot bigger (~3x). Don't know if it will work in the new system, but the old system had a multiple tone alarm probably very similar so I'm hopeful.

Ordered extra optional shock sensors (one audio) for the alarm system. May have to return them if the Best Buy installer won't install them and I am not up to doing that myself.
 
Is there a point to put alarm on a car that qualifies for antique plate without actually being an antique?

Well, I keep my golf clubs in the trunk. If someone breaks into the car they will have access to the trunk if given enough time. A loud alarm is apt to prevent that. I like having remote access and lock too. The old one still had functionality to prevent the car from starting. Being unreliable meant sometimes the car was a bitch to start. Also, something drained the battery a few weeks ago to zero. I figure it could have been the old security system. It was time to rip it out.

That's basically how it is here too lol.

That's one thing that's nice about having an old rusty truck, it's not exactly a thief magnet. I just try to avoid having anything of value visible. I do keep the chainsaw in there though but can't see it. It's probably worth more than the truck. Actually, the battery alone is probably worth more than the truck. :tearsofjoy:

I did that once a few years ago but it was because driving on the freeway a stone (or something) was kicked up by another vehicle and cracked the windshield.

Maybe not. I've been looking at basic old trucks, stick shift with a decent bed, and they are ridiculously expensive.

Yeah it's hard to find proper trucks now. Been trying to look at options to replace my 2009 with something a little newer before it's no longer road worthy but not finding much. Everything I find is basically 2010 or older or they're asking way too much. Even my truck I kinda overpaid, was around 14k or so and it really didn't last me all that long. They're using this liquid salt brine now that really messes up vehicles. Wish they would just stick with sand at intersections, and tell people to learn how to drive. All this salt is so unnecessary.
 
I assume it's a combination of demand and safety/environmental rules, but just give me a small Ford Ranger with an 8 foot bed and air conditioning. I don't need it to connect to the internet to move the seat back if it sees that I've been buying too much pizza.
