I used Iridium sat phones several years ago. They were perfectly awful. The lag was a conversation killer as both parties had to adjust to the lag and most people couldn’t do it.
 
64GB DDR5-6000 kit to replace my 32. Just because it was cheap, I don’t like odd powers of 2, and it was bothering me that my work laptop has more RAM than my 7950X box 🙄
 
Dishwasher died - old as hell and has been slowly malfunctioning in various ways. Just ordered a Bosch 300 series from Bestbuy - they had a free installation deal. I usually go with Whirlpool products, but finding too many negative reviews online and a big thumbs up for Bosch on Consumer Reports, I caved.
 
I heard good things about Bosch too. I have an Inglis that I've had since I bought the house and it's been good too. It was one of the cheaper models too.

That's what it says, and the DC output is 12V. The box included a vehicle cigarette lighter DC source plug. Seems a bit weird because it would seem to be not easy to use in a car, but I suppose one could manage... obviously, not while driving, though.
 
10m of COB tape light plus two transformers. Need 5 more m and one more transformer. Updating the under cabinet lights.

It's marvelous. How it does it, I can barely guess. There's obviously a motor in there. There's a heating coil. I turned that on one time, didn't notice the effect but saw that the inside was glowing red, guess that's to let you know that heating is in effect. Haven't yet touched the intensity button (low, medium, high). There's evidently little reason to touch the reverse direction button because it automatically pauses for a second around once a minute, evidently reversing the direction.
 
Nothing too fancy, but this just came in the mail, two 100a 80vdc rated circuit breakers I bought off Ebay. Those plug into my rectifier shelf I recently bought. I found them new on Mouser but they were very expensive. I typically don't trust ebay for electrical stuff but this is kind of a very niche thing that I doubt there are fakes for it on the market. This is probably decommissioned from a real telco install.

Basically a dual conversion UPS. Will add batteries and inverters, and it will power my server rack. It's a big overkill as my rack only draws like 400w, but I'll be adding my workstations to it too, so that's going to be around 600w+ When power goes out or flickers etc the equipment won't feel a thing because it will be running on inverter the whole time.

This will also allow me to setup a way to transfer to solar. I will eventually automate that based on solar power availability. I wired the rectifier shelf so each rectifier has it's own power cord so I can run partially on solar or fully as the rectifiers basically load share. There's 3 slots but I'll only run on two unless my setup grows beyond that. Each rectifier puts out around 1kw or so.

Had a bit of a janky setup going on to test it over a few days and so far so good. I put it all away for now though since I had to clear that whole area to get ready to drywall. I still need to decide what I want to do as far as DC power distribution goes (bus bars etc) and once I get to that point I can rack it and install it more permanently. I don't have any inverters yet though, that might be my next purchase, as it will technically work even with those 4 batteries, just not for long with any real load. That light bulb was just to put a base load on it, was around 40w and ran for 3 hours on those batteries.

Need a little advice from anyone with power tools.

I've been a DIY'er for a few years now and into the Ridgid platform.

I have 2 4AH batteries and:
1 impact driver
1 hammer drill
1 7 1/4 circular saw
1 orbital sander
1 18 gauge brad nailer
1 sawz all
1 ridgid table saw (corded) and 1 miter saw (corded).

But I've been thinking about a track saw for a bit. I've built my own furniture quite a bit.. my wife's kitchen dinner table, our desks, closet shelves. Next project is a bed.

However I am more temped by Milwaukee's track saw rather than Ridgid's which isn't getting great reviews.

My question is.. do you home DIY'ers ever think it's worth going with more than 1 platform for 1 tool or that's just stupid?
 
Since you're not that far into the Ridgid platform I'd probably just switch to Milwaukee. If I was not so invested in Ryobi I'd probably do the same too. They're both the same company but Milwaukee is the higher end line.

Been eyeing a track saw too. I find myself often cutting plywood, and I just use a straight edge and a spacer that I measured out to get the blade distance of my saw to the edge but it's not 100% perfect. Track saw would be more consistent I think.
