That is a cool fucking concept.

The candle snuffer is super neat though. Never heard of it before. But yeah, I don't put a candle on with a timer in mind. It's like, oh before I go to bed or oh, right before I leave, or oh, after I get laid kind of thing. That one doesn't get great reviews though, but maybe some of it is user error perhaps.

Just launched an air strike on my credit line. Running out of disk space on all 3 of my raid arrays and decided to just bite the bullet. 10TB seemed to be the best bang for the buck per TB as far as I could see, and these were on sale so bought 8 of them. Also my first time ordering from pc-canada.com and they have mixed reviews... so I'll see how that goes.

I have 3 slots left in my NAS so goal is to create a raid 5 with 3 of the 10TB drives, that will make a LUN that is about 19TB which interestingly will end up being as much disk space as my NAS as is. From there I'll be able to shuffle data around as needed to grow/change the other 2 arrays. One of them I will simply grow and the other I'll keep same drives but convert to raid 6. I may need to actually do that destructively.

Should be a fun time... I may possibly get drive failures with all this so I'll want to double check all my backups too.

I didn't really want to spend this money but been a while since I spent money on computer stuff, and I was kinda due to upgrade my storage.

You're not kidding me? I used to hit the local indy store to test and replace tubes in my first hifi which I built entirely from Eico kits. 2 amps, preamp, tuner, multiplex adaptor. I was so glad to go solid state!

Yes. They are very popular in the headphone crowd and mostly the hybrid amps. I have a hybrid - the two tubes are for each channel preamp, then the sollid state part is the amp portion. So you can impart the characteristics of tubes onto the sound, but it's a more seamless and easier experience. I have been rolling tubes and definitely notice the differences in the sound signature and it's something else to get the liquid sounds of good tubes, even though I still have and use my solid state amp too.

As someone who grew up in an electronics mid tier supplier/retailer. I think the tube amp people have been inhaling too much mercury.

Believe me, some of the audiophile wanna be's are crazy. They say they can detect differences in cable burn in. Whatever. Totally nuts. But there are significant differences between headphones and between headphone driver styles. If you haven't heard an Audeze planar, you are missing out on a sound no dynamic driver I've ever heard can do. There is always a point of diminishing returns price wise. So if you are not just hung up on price, you'll be good. DAC's and amps make a difference too. I tried two dongles with my IE600, one I couldn't stand, too cold and analytical, the other added warmth and low end while maintaining detail. It was clear as day.

But tube rolling also works. I got a pricey pair of NOS Amperex that were known for being warm and liquid and rare. Well they were too warm for me and I lost detail. Returned those. I said fuck the hype and rare bullshit, and went for a more commonly available tube that is currently being produced. And what a difference. The sound was noticeably different, way more clarity, layers across the spectrum, spaciousness, while still having an amazing low end impact. And also the stock tubes were also quite different, very mid-forward, small soundstage.

All with the same two pairs of headphones. Same test tracks.

10TB?! Damn. Seems like yesterday 1gig was a big damn deal.

New Razer Blade 16", with dual LED 240hz and 120hz, 4070. Impossible to find this with the 4080 or 4090 right now but this will work. Debated the dual screen, but wanted it for gaming and then school work when traveling. 48 and going back for MBA. Halfway there! The screen is absolutely amazing.

Wonder if you can just use a spade to do a slit in the earth and just shove it in. It might eventually push back up from the frost though, but it would be worth a shot.

I need to figure out a way to work on garden hoses, I find hose clamps have so many sharp edges. There's got to be a better way. I bought a long hose last year to cut into custom lenghts to use for general purpose stuff around my property but just handling them my hands were full of blood. I might experiment with pex crimp rings to see if they work on hoses.
