I applaud you in the projector mounted from the ceiling--can't comment on the overall environment potentially ruining the black levels of anything watched on the projector--but how did you get the WAF for those arcade machines?

It's my man cave and she's cool with that. She also likes movies so she loves the projector down there. I also let her pick one "poster" for herself when I made these accoustical posters that I hung on the walls and she picked Dirty Dancing.

It's the basement too so the lighting is completely controlled. The only window down there is covered by that red blackout blind you see behind the pinball machine. Obviously when watching anything down there the lights are off though.

I'll snap a pano later once I get it all picked up. I was tired last night and didn't even get a game in after getting it setup because I want to install the shooter lane protector before I ever play a ball.

What is inside is even better.

That's a pretty awesome setup! Need to get a popcorn machine and couple carnival games in there and you can start an underground hacking club. 😛

Very nice. I knew it was arcade or pinball related
Yeah you were onto it for sure haha. But it truly wasn't one I "always wanted" since it's a new machine and not one from my childhood, so I didn't lie!

And I kind of ignored the pinball part in my reply too, only talked about arcade cabs with MK2 lol.

Just ordered myself a sit/stand desk. Going to mount up my monitors to clean up my desk, and add a little more mobility into my WFH routine. Should have done this when I first started working from home in late 2018.

Got my disassembled Jarvis desk on Thursday/Friday, and put it together today. Assembly wasn't so bad, but the frame is quite heavy, and cable management, as always, is a pain in the ass. Paired it with a basic Monoprice monitor arm - really helps to clean up the desk compared to the wide-footprint Dell monitor stands. Just need to get a short stack of drawers to hold my desktop and I'll be set.

moar warhammer stuff. because this hobby is a money sink (that's why it's a hobby, right?). On the plus side, it didn't cost me anything because I used a rebate gift card I got.

My keyboard repair did not work, so I picked up a Lenovo Flex 5 chromebook from Costco. They were clearing them out.
It is upgraded with i3, 8 GB of Ram, and a 128 GB SSD.

How does it perform? I'm curious because have an older HP lappie with 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7-4712HQ with Intel HD Graphics 4600 and 8gb memory. It is slower than fuck even for web browsing.

edit - to be completely honest, it would probably work a lot better were there not so much shit in memory and going out the swap file constantly.

It is snappy as hell with chromeOS.
I have a debian server with files on it, and it hooked up to that nicely and plays music out of it right away. I really like having the touch screen, I instinctively reach up and zoom pictures and move around maps rather than mouse those particular actions.

You know, I might see if I can image the current drive and install some monkey friendly version of Linux. And I'm talkin' "dumb" monkey. Or maybe just blow it away. Who's that minimalist that tells you to ask yourself when was the last time you looked at something. Well, not this year for the lappie. OK, a solid 7-8 months.

I have a win7 Dell laptop for one app that is only supported by windows, the rest of my stuff is great on chrome. I looked at the windows 11 offerings and don't want that much complication in my life.

I just bought a couple of Hallmark Keepsake ornaments. I was a bit surprised to see a Mortal Kombat one, so I had to get it. 🙂

The new touch screen, folding tablet/laptop has 32gb of memory but only a 512gb hard drive which is an SSD. It's going to be used mainly for BOINC/WCG and the odd zoom meeting.

I'm probably going to leave the OS as it is and I don't think 512gb is enough for dual booting. IDK though. I'll start small and try to get rid of as much pre-installed junk as possible. If they think they can stop me and make that a pain in the ass, I'll probably go nuclear on its ass.

Sure it is .... 100gb's is substantially more then enough for a boot partition.

Might leave you a little short of storage for other stuff though if that's your only drive.

This free open-source utility might be helpful for you... used it on clients PC's a few times to good effect.

Been looking for a new cookware set. Was going to go with Calphalon or All-Clad non-stick, but missed both sales (went OOS or low-rated seller). So we are trying Ninja Premium Non-Stick. I got $150 off at their own website. Appear to work with induction ranges as well, which was a bonus (incase we ever move into a house with one).
