AC800 Annke security camera. Been wanting to add security cameras outside my house, and I also want to add one to overlook the wood stove so I can feel safer leaving a fire unattended, so bought this one as a test. If it integrates well with Zone Minder I will buy more to do rest of house.

I got my first flashdrive free from compusa for buying something. Can't remember what. It was a 128mb drive, and it felt like a treasure. I think they were selling >$50 at the time. 128gb for $5 is ridiculous :^D

Finally bought a Lightroom (via Creative Cloud 20GB plan) subscription. On sale at BB for BF, so works out to $6.50/mo; just had to buy something else in combination to get the deal (in this case, a dual pack of film disposable cameras for my wife - she likes to use them on some trips). Though Canon's basic Digital Photo Professional Software isn't bad for basic stuff, it's a bit on the slow side.

Err -30 is not good enough for Timmins.

It rarely gets that cold here these days, and I imagine there is a safety margin anyway. Worse case scenario I put it in a heated enclosure. I would hope that they just shut down at that temp, and don't actually get damaged. This particular one will be indoors anyway, but I might test it outdoors at some point too.

What $200 in crackers looks like...

View attachment 111956
So, inspired by your earlier post about Swedish crackers, I decided to finally visit the Ikea very close by. I saw they have a little food mart in their stores. I picked up knakebrod crackers, thin ginger cookies and a white chocolate bar w/ raspberry filling. The crackers are...ok. I figured they would be very plain and dry. They are. I guess I am spoiled by salty American adulterated food lol. I put some salt on them with salami and cheese, not bad. The cookies and candy bar are phenomenal.

Yes, they're very plain. What makes them interesting is they let the topping shine, and adds a subtle flavor and a not so subtle texture. Top your cheese and salami off with a hot English or Irish mustard and you have a king's snack. I also like them crumbled into soup. Not as much as oyster crackers, but they add a different flavor and consistency that's a nice change on occasion. They get mushy pretty quick in soup, but in something like tomato soup, it bulks it up a bit, and adds an interesting flavor.

So, get water biscuits? I like Jamaican Excelsior.

It annoys me paté du foie has fallen out of fashion here and is not easy to get.

I ordered a new but older 980 Pro 2tb drive as a storage drive for STEAM library. I'm actually fairly set for tech for once this holiday season.

Tried my first pack of knäckebröd...

IMG_20241123_212904142.jpg

It's really good. Subtle sweetness, and subtle spices. Like all of it, it's subtle! :^D Not sure how to use it other than just eating it plain. Almost anything you put on it will overpower the flavor, and make the special make/purchase pointless. I'll try a piece with just butter on it. That might be interesting.

D^:

Grape jelly's terrible. So are strawberry preserves as far as that goes. That would wreck the subtle sweetness, and probably overpower the spice. I just had a piece with butter, and that was pretty good. I'm fine just eating them plain though. It's a nice break from the mega sweet stuff that floats around this season, which I like, but it's just too much after awhile.

This stuff in general is a nice break from my typical diet. I usually go for flavor and spice turned up to 11. Kinda nice having simpler food as a reset.

Persian restaurants offer butter, mild onion slices, basil leaves, and cilantro with their flatbread. Might try that on your crackers.

So I was checking my order status for the boots and realized I made a mistake in my order. I accidentally ordered the rugged version:

vs what I originally meant to order:

When looking at the boots originally, I didn't even know they had a rugged version so I'm not sure what happened. But looking at them now, I kinda like the way they look. Originally, my purchase was for something I can wear in the office and out on the town, and depending on how these look, aside from the sole, they might still fit the bill. I'll have to check them out to see how they look in person. Should be getting them Wednesday.

Edit: I'm also now looking at some Redwing Iron Rangers:

Made of a soft squishy vinyl material - color adjust, shutoff timer, dimmer, tap cat to change color. 8" tall. Downside is, you can't replace the rechargeable battery, or the bulb. Disposable cat.

Big fan of Allen Edmonds shoes/boots due to there sizing, quality, comfort and longevity with refinishing services. I'm not felling trees in em or riding a Harley.

I have a pair of the Long Branch that are going strong!

Those are nice. Hadn't heard of the brand before. I already sent the first pair back for replacement because the sizing was just a tad too big so went down half a size. I'll see how well they fit whenever they come in. If they don't fit, I'll be on the hunt again.

I purchased this keyboard for $50 on Nov 28th. It's currently $76, and usually goes for $79.
IDK about Roccat, so it's a bit of a gamble. :grimacing:
Been using my current Plugable keyboard too long though.

Two PCs to build a proxmox cluster, once I migrate stuff over I'll convert my existing ESXi server to Proxmox too. 3 nodes will make HA possible. Been meaning to do this for a long time with real server hardware but can't justify the cost when these SFF boxes are so cheap. Can take up to 64GB of ram too. Will upgrade that later.

Before the election didn't feel like buying anything. Didn't after either, but last couple weeks have bought some stuff:

My 1st set of hearing aids (have never worn any for a second but get fitted in 3 days). Rexton Reach from Costco.

Google Pixel 8 256GB Open Box from Best Buy. Looks brand new, received Saturday, 2 days ago. UPS said they would deliver 2-6PM, I get home at 1:35PM and there was a note on my door. I am righteously pissed and call UPS to bitch. Finally get a human who says he'll call a local UPS Access Point, who calls me 15 minutes later and says the driver will come back to my house. 15 minutes later I had my phone. Haven't set it up yet, figure to tomorrow. Bought it because it supports the hearing aids.

Today I get an order from Amazon and one of the items was not what I ordered. Somebody fucked up. I call Amazon and they say I can keep the item and they'll send me the right one to arrive in 2 days (pair of 10" silicone spatulas). The goofy set I received is a different brand 14" and 12" silicone scraper set. I gave it to my next door neighbors.

Ordered a Spigen case for the Pixel phone from Spigen off Ebay.

Decided I wanted black T-shirts. They won't reflect off my laptop screen! So, I bought a total of 18. 8 at Costco warehouse (long sleeve), 10 off Amazon. Washed them all today before wearing.

Bought a couple Wifi/Bluetooth cards to upgrade my laptops to Bluetooth 5.3, again in support of my new hearing aids. Haven't installed them yet. I'm gonna be very busy for a while.

152 sq ft of oak flooring for an addition I’m building onto the back of my house — along with authorizing endless Home Depot supply orders for the contractors. Very large CC bill this month.
