OMG. My back gave out just imagining stacking those logs

Yeah that was not fun to move lol. It was very green too as they were live trees that the owner chose to cut due to proximity to their house. I did get some help thankfully. These logs are out of the norm though, I don't think I will be moving stuff that big all that often. Come to think of it it's kind of funny since the majority of the wood I got so far is not even from my property, I just keep managing to run across free wood. I have a lot of wood on my property that I cut when clearing a trail and tossed aside to get to later but never ended up actually going to finish it off after I hurt my ankle last year.

I guess what I'm trying to say is just make sure your boots aren't just comfy around the house but also where you intend to use them.

Oh for sure, in my case I thought hiking boots would be ok and that's what I had last year, and found quickly it was not good enough for the kind of terrain I'm working in. I have not tried these ones in the bush yet but hopefully they'll be good. They feel solid on my feet compared to the hiking boots.

@Red Squirrel - I suspect that you already know this, tons and tons of pallets/skids are wasted every year. If you don't mind the inconvenience of ripping out the nails and staples, you'll have more precut, treated boards than you'll ever be able to use.

And even if they charge you some nominal amount - 5 to 10 bucks - it's still a steal.

Yeah when I see pallets available for free I sometimes go get them. They're good for storing firewood off the ground. I will probably eventually build my own wood storage boxes too, I'm thinking something like 1'x4'x16" crates that I can easily move around with a dolly. Once I decide on a design I'm just going to make a whole bunch of them. I want it small enough that I can easily load them in the truck but big enough to carry a decent amount of wood in one shot.

Might do a kiln at some point too. But by the time I get to building that I'll have a decent rotation of firewood that I might find it unnecessary.

I built my firewood storage out of pallets. Got the idea from pinterest. Something very similar to this:

I'm not a fan of Woodford's products in general but Costco had this for $108 and they got me. Most places I've seen it at $150 or more if they even have it. Besides the annoying 700ml-ness I like it. The higher proof balances out what I perceive as excessive sweetness in their regular line. Is it worth $108 When I can get ECBP, Larceny BP, and various MGP products at cask strength in a 750ml for 30-40 bucks less? Probably not but it's a nice change of pace.

I'm actually pretty found of electric chainsaws, I bought one figuring it wouldn't cut it for my off grid property but so far I don't actually have a need to buy a gas one. Would a gas one be better, maybe, but I'm fine with the electric. I like the convenience of not having to mix gas/oil or dealing with carbs or anything like that. Just pop the battery on the charger and swap with another battery and keep going. Just need to remember to put bar oil... still need to do that. Been using olive oil since I don't tend to go through that fast enough so I have a bunch of expired one that I may as well use for that. I think conola is better though.

Got a new tripod and manual mount for my telescope. I had a computerized GoTo mount I bought used, but I'm giving up on it. I thought I'd like the feature, but it can be difficult to get the alignment working right, and the act of having to use the controller is kind of annoying to me.

If I'm feeling like having something sweeter - FlorDeCana fits & Barcelo is like syrup.

Decided to "upgrade" the 24-70mm G ED (non VR) lens for my Nikon 850 (+3100 shutter count), Bought a used Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6 G ED VR.
Ouch, this one will be a pain to carry compared to my Samsung S23 Ultra 512GB with a 200 megapixel wide-angle.

Note - I haven't used this camera/taken a photo since early January this year.

So it was my birthday this month...

I didn't buy it... but my brother and family did.

We had like a 15 person private Omkase with a extremely fresh caught Tuna.






I didn't even want to know the final bill for this... as i think it would of made my entire night a mess.
But it was absolutely delicious as fresh sushi and sashimi.

The cheif butchered that tuna and other fish really good.
