They already have ignored the Tea Party. But their ideologies are not the same, so there is no surprise there - at least to me.

To me, the message of the Tea Party is one of fiscal responsibility. I should clarify because that can be interpreted a number of ways. It means spending below your means. It means making sure tax dollars are spent wisely. It entails remembering that every tax dollar was received because someone had to toil and labor for it. It doesn't mean take the easy way out and increase taxes so you don't have to make those hard decisions.

Uh, I think EXACTLY the opposite. Its tax cuts, tax cuts, tax cuts. Despite devastating deficits those reps with Tea Party support were unwilling to let the tax cuts expire for the wealthiest, at the expense of more huge deficits.

You will only hear tax cuts from the Republicans. Spending cuts will be minor and cosmetic only.

And yet the vast majority of the tax cuts in the compromise are either supported by Democrats, or proposed by the Democrats. The Republicans are alone in wanted to preserve the Bush tax cuts for ALL tax-paying Americans; the Democrats want to preserve the Bush tax cuts for all Americans except for the top 2%, plus they are the driving force behind the payroll tax cuts.

You'll get no argument from me on this post. Both the Republicans and Democrats were utterly irresponsible in passing this tax package. However, the tea party folks aren't any different.
