High end Mustang performance in a 4 door RWD sedan...or wagon with BMW build quality and you have your choice of 290kw Quad cam V8, 270kw Turbo Inline 6 or a 190kw base Inline 6....what more could any family man want?

It's because of three reasons.

1. Too costly to convert to LHD.
2. Would require major work to fit US safety regulations.
3. Fords suck... Zing!

you don't know much about Australia do you?

We model everything on what the US does...even down to our design regulations which do comply with US standards..which is why not a lot of work is reguired for Aussie GM cars to be sold in the US...the Falcon has to comply with the same laws as the Commodore.

Then why is there a gas tank in place where there should be a very large trunk on my GTO?

The new Commodore was designed from the ground up for future export to the US, this generation Falcon was not.

what you need to know is that the Falcon uses a lot of parts from the Mustang....if we can convert Mustang's and Taurus's to RHD here and sell them, then the "ALL POWERFUL" US should be able to do the same to the Falcon.

Sounds like another excuse from a lazy American to me.

Hey! I may be lazy and I may be an American but I'm not a.... hmmmm....

damn right 😛

I unlazied myself from my beer and googled this.

Exports to other countries
Australian Falcon exports have traditionally been confined to right-hand-drive countries in the Asia-Pacific region, such as New Zealand, and Pacific Island nations like Papua New Guinea and Fiji. Since the closure of Ford's assembly plant at Wiri, Auckland in the early 1990s, all Falcons sold in New Zealand have been fully imported from Australia.

The only significant export market for the Falcon outside of Oceania has been South Africa, where it was released in 1996 after an absence of nearly 20 years, but was dropped in 2003. Some limousines and hearses are exported to the UK by Coleman Milne, which used to convert European-made Granadas and Scorpios for the same purposes.

Hong Kong also imported a small batch of Falcons for trial as taxis, but they have not seen success there.

The Falcon will undergo some changes involving the E8 Orion platform in 2008. It is expected to be designed for left-hand drive from the get-go, increasing the likelihood that the car will be exported to some left-hand drive countries. However it is unknown what bodystyles will be on offer, or if long-wheelbase versions (Fairlane, LTD) will be available.

Zing!

It's a GM though.. that means lausey window regulators, faulty ABS motors, and you have to take the entire car apart and put it back together with lock-tite on every bolt and screw.
Funny...windows and ABS have worked perfectly on every GM I've owned or every person whom I've known has owned one. And it is GM's fault some bolts need loc-tite to minimize future hassle? 😕

Now, are you a Honda/Acura or Toyota/Lexus whore?

YES! i paid them my hard-earned money for QUALITY!

Sure my life isn't running to plan, but there is not point in changing who I am or how I act just because some bad things have happened.

I am getting on with my life...and that includes continuing to be the e-asshole that I am.

My comment wasn't an Attack on AdamK47 3DS, I was simply trying to spice up this thread a bit...half the reason I come to the AT forums is to irritate people.

If people want to call me names...they can feel free too, It makes these forums much more interesting.

If everybody here got along all happy and peachy all the time it would be a dull forum to visit.

Sometimes however some people do take it way too far...it seems to happen more often than not lately.

But to get back on topic...

I'm curious to find out if GM will leave the locally produced 3.5 Litre quad cam V6 in the base models or fit it out with a US engine...not that it matters much, anybody with half a brain buying the car would tick the box that has "V8" on it, the V6 is a pretty useless engine compared to other Aussie 6 cylinders *cough* Falcon Inline 6 *cough*
