Assuming that part about the reprinting is true (big if), are you implying his motives were to prevent dissemination of a book he'd written 8 years prior that had been widely available in multiple formats, languages, and reprintings, and sat on the NY Times bestseller list for something like 2 years, for the purpose of hiding secrets he didn't want anyone to know about? Not to mention that it was available in ebook since 2007, and so was available to be read on any pc/mac/mobile, and it could have been purchased used online in dozens of places.

It doesn't sound like you tried that hard to find a copy. It was on the Times bestseller list during 2008 and as far as I can tell has never been out of print. Next time pm me, I think my googlefoo is strong enough to nab a copy of a book with a few million copies in print.

This is a really bad conspiracy theory. The "Ayers wrote it" theory is at least imaginative.

I tried to order it through Barnes and Noble, Amazon and Books-A-Million, ended up picking it up used but it was damned hard to find. Honestly I don't remember if I was told by a book seller that it was out of print pending authorization or if someone told me that. A quick wiki reveals it was printed again in 2007, but in 2008 I could not order it from anyone I usually deal with, new or used. That might also be due to his negotiating his new book deal, which had to be signed in the brief window between resigning as Senator and being sworn in as President - although maybe not, that was a different version of the book.

Honestly, after reading that book I couldn't see how anyone with two (or more) brain cells to rub together would let him anywhere near the reins of power in America. You can see how THAT went . . .
