Brexit has cost Britain 500 million pounds a week, study says

"The Centre for European Reform, a research group that focuses on the European Union, said the British economy is about 2.5 percent smaller than it would have been if the public have voted to remain in the bloc in June 2016. Its findings were based on the impact on the economy until the end of June 2018.

Public finances have been dented by 26 billion pounds a year, the equivalent of 500 million pounds a week and a figure that is growing, the group said here.

The Centre for European Reform, which describes itself as “pro-European but not uncritical”, said it created a model of how Britain’s economy could have performed had the campaign to remain in the EU won the referendum in 2016."

The study is so dumb. They are still NOT out of the European union, of course the costs are higher since they are readjusting everything and still paying into the EU!

Why does there need to be a study about such an obvious thing? They are still paying into the EU! You can only do a comparative study AFTER Britain is fully out of the EU.

Idiotic study, pointless and completely partisan and biased! This is why no one takes such things seriously anymore, they are all dumb, needless and politically motivated!

The effects of brexit are already being felt. Many outlets have reported that the UK has spent the equivalent of around 500 million dollars just for the preparation to leave (the planning and negotiations and etc) just last year alone.
It's essentially just like any divorce. Both parties are left worse off and the middle men and lawyers get rich.

We can absolutely figure in opportunity costs as well as look at comparables to determine baselines vs current performance.

Businesses are actively planning NOW and have been for a while in preparation for Brexit. Decisions and investments are already in place.

If the UK is growing at half the rates of it's neighbors, something is going on.

Not exactly a stunning success so far.

Regardless of what it cost, it's what they asked for, and now they'll live with it.
The UK has been around for a very long time, and I expect it will continue to be around for a very long time.

It's not surprising but the Russian stooges like Nigel are well paid for their effort. He even admitted after the vote that he doesn't believe that a damn thing he said was true.

Here's the thing though, Theresa has to call another election or another vote or the people will fucking take parliament to the French museums to have them in the guillotine.

After what is now known to be true, the English people should get another vote because what they were presented with was not true. They were promised no changes apart from less immigration from outside of Europe and the thing is, the UK has ALWAYS been able to limit immigration from outside of the UK, the EU has NEVER had a say in the matter and they still don't.

But Nigel and other nazi wannabee's presented it that way and that is why they got a vote for leave. No fucking politician ever made any argument for the other side because "they can't be that stupid" but as we've shown with electing Trump, people CAN be really fucking stupid for no reason at all.

That's not true at all. Freedom of movement in the EU means EU citizens can live anywhere they want in the EU. Reversing that was a big reason Brexit was voted in.

It's pretty well apparent that the EU has more to worry about than just Brexit. It is honestly falling apart from all over.

But go ahead and attempt to insult Britain. You will fail miserably, but go ahead.

Must you be the victim in every situation?

Just understand - The EU is in all honesty shitting their pants at the massive amounts that are contemplating leaving the EU.

Everyone likes to perceive this as some rosy engagement where everyone is holding eachothers hands and doing a merry-go-round together while the lone Britain stands aside..... In reality, that simply isn't the case.

I already know based on the stereotypical socialist based replies in this thread that typical people that reply will deny it - just as they denied the possibility of Brexit and just as they denied the possibility of Trump as a candidate front-runner nominee president but like always - liberal retards can never seem to learn their lesson's in life

Obvious you never learned your grammar school lessons. You don't make lessons plural with an apostrophe.

Life's lessons are something else you've failed to learn, obvious from your screeds you post incessantly. Same applies to boomerang, Orooooooorooooo, Guru, PC-I-like-Greek boy, etc., etc. Same racist, homophobic, "I'm such an oppressed victim" mentality in all of you.

I agree that there are growing pressures that may fragment the EU. The question is, "Will the people of the EU be better off without it?" IMHO, breaking up the EU will prove to be a catastrophe for the peoples of the member countries in the long term.

Of course the UK will still be around. No ones saying that it's going to be a cross between the hunger games and Mad Max. We are just going to be a lot poorer, have less protections for workers or the poor, and be culturally more isolated.

And it's not really what people asked for. The options really weren't articulated well by either side and the brexiteers particularly used a lot of untruths in this campaign. As the reality of Brexit is looming and people can see what it involves public opinion is very much turn8ng to remaining part of the EU. As a little example of that Garage held a poll on his Facebook page with a simple in or out option. Now you'd think that that would be a shoe in with his supporters. The result? About 65% voted to scrap Brexit and remain part of the EU.

No better way to fvck over your terms of trade and make your nation as a whole poorer than leaving the EU. Good luck reaching autarky UK, because no economist worth their salt (hell, anybody with a brain) can see even an inkling of benefit coming out of Brexit.

I've never claimed to be a victim.

I personally don't care what Britain decides to do with themselves. That would be their choice to choose their own fate.
