I have a MS keyboard with Sleep button that I assigned to Hibernate...

say if I press it, but accidentally double press it...
it will start hibernating but can the 2nd press cause it to wake up?

Just wondering if the system is queuing the commands.


I've pressed the Sleep button when the computer is fully off, it doesn' t turn it on

Therein probably lies the problem. Over the years I have found hibernate and "sleep" to be very buggy and full of problems - never use them - not even on my laptop.

Hibernating actually turns your computer off. So if your computer is turning on, it wouldn't be because of hibernation. Stand-by mode maybe, but not hibernation.

Is there anything in your house that communicates through the power lines? Like an X-10 or Lutron light setup or a touch lamp or even a phone extention that uses the power lines?

A surge supressor/line filter will not stop these signals. They could be waking your computer.

nope nothing is controlled thru the power lines..

except the light switches themselves


but the thing is it didn't do it on my 1st AN7 board...
so its gotta be something i missed on the board setups or jumpers... im still going over my install setups and stuff

in the meantime i've stopped using hibernation and it has stopped turning on by itself

Interesting... I find that funny because there's really no difference to the machine itself when it's Shut Down or Hibernated. They both turn off the power to the machine (asides from the ATX power that's always there). I'd be interested on what's actually turning on your computer as Windows isn't running when it's hibernated.

i might have to see if a format reinstall will help... cause I really like hibernate

I still think it's not your hibernating causing the problems, but hey, you never know!
