I have heard Blu_Ray is capacity restrained right now. It may be awhile until the late comers even have the ability to make production runs on movies.

That information has never been anything more than blind speculation.

The guys at avs seem to disagree. There are only so many lines available right now and through the summer as more lines are brought online.

Case in point, There Will Be Blood comes out today on DVD, but not Blu-Ray even though there is cover art.

Stardust is SWEET on HD, dude! And the fact I got it for $12.50 at CC on clearance was EVEN SWEETER!
And I got my BB $50 gift card today, for the clearance A-30 I ended up getting for FREE plus tax and a $20 service plan. Let us know when you can pick up a b00-way player for free!
I been picking up good HD deals on fleabay for about $10-13 each on average, too. Some new, some opened but mint. Some HDs go for like $5-7 frequently! I'm just about maxed out for what I want, but there is still a few titles I will pick up cheap. There's only about a 100 HDs I even want, anyhow. I'm sure the sales of HDs would have been 10xs better if they had released titles people wanted in HD in the first place, and not reissued lots of junk that failed at the box office like The HULK that Walmart couldn't give away for $2 for SD over the last few holiday sales. Hey, but but now you can get Swordfish in HD for $5 on fleabay, including shipping! HOORAH!That's another perfect example of what they should hide in their movie vaults, not reissue. I bet you can't wait for The Hulk and Swordfishy on b00-way!
If they had released more must have titles like LOTR, Voyager, Babylon 5, Farscape and LEXX on HD-DVD, I'm sure the HD sales would have gone up 10x! But no, they had to reissue mostly stale selling crap on HD the studios lost their suits on the first time around, like Dune and Waterworld. Even though I liked those 2 flicks, you see what I mean. Poor studio release choices in HD killed off HD long before b00-way did. Too bad, too. :frown:

i wanna see how happy u will be when ur hd-dvd player bites the dust and u have 100's of hd dvd's that u won't be able to play because u can't find/buy a player.
Why wouldn't he be able to play his movies? He can just convert all his HD-DVDs to Blu-Ray disc or just stream them to a PS3 in the future.Originally posted by: BlahBlahYouToo

Looking back, it's too bad that the XBox 360 didn't come bundled with an HD-DVD player. With the 1 year head start that they had on the PS3, I have a hunch that the format war would have ended differently.

How about not worried at all? Nice to know you care so much about us HDers, though.
And for your added information, I have never had a single failure on any SD DVD player I owned. And I have owned 4 of them. And I still have 1 H/K 480p DVD player that is built like a tank. I have also had multiple CD players and changers and never had one fail. I currently also have a 5 disk H/K CD changer, too. But then I don't actively abuse my electronics, like some people are prone to do.
I currently have 3 HD players: one A2 and two A30s and the A30s have a 2 year service policy. And Toshiba promised to stock repair parts for 8 YEARS to repair players, and do the repair work. By then b00-way will be DEAD and movies will come on flash drives or some other hardware format and no disk player will be needed to access them. So continually arguing about it seems pretty childish at this point. But juvenile PS3 fan boys are like that.
Toshiba also thinks they can make an even better upscaler for SD that will rival any HD formats. Now, that won't give you enhanced HD theater surround sound options on SD movies, but oh well. Most people can't hear the difference, anyhow. Lamp wire or Monster cable, anyone?![]()

no, childish is calling blu-ray, "b00-way"
3 HD players wow, no wonder you're such a big fanboy. you've got quite a bit invested into the tech.
and a ps3 fanboy i am not. i actually have an a30 that i picked up for $65 brand new (equivalent of a good upscaler), used solely for hd upscaling (and the 7 freebies of course).
i'm just not going to dump anymore money into a dead format.

If you knew what lossless sounded like compared to Dolby Digital, you'd never make that ridiculous statement.
BTW, most Blu-ray titles can be found for $10-$15 used. With the added scratch resistant coating, they arrive in like new condition.Actually, some upcoming major studio catalog releases, brand new, will be $14 on "boo-ray".
Have you ever considered Prozac?
The original purpose of this thread was to stop the dozens of pointless threads created with every new plot twist, each created solely to piss off the other side, and filled with nothing but mindless bickering. Those days are finished, regardless of what progresses from here on forward.
Maybe turn this into what AVS did to the news thread. Other than that, move the discussion to regular threads now, I don't foresee any more arguments over formats or services.
