The Hangover will have a sequal

sure it was predictable, about as predictable as a loser like you whining about one of the most entertaining movies of the year. Your life must really suck if you can't even find enjoyment in a movie like this.

unless you directed or starred in The Hangover, me thinks the lady doth protest too much. For fucks sake, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, even shitheads like yourself that seem hell bent on shoving yours down everyone else's throats.

yeah I was grossly disappointed by it. It gave me a few laughs, but at the end I wasn't like "Wow..funniest movie of the year". Not by a long shot.

what came out in 2009 that was funnier than the hangover?

mall cop? - didnt see

observe and report - nope

I love you man - funny, but didnt think it was as funny as rudd/dude from how I met your mother got kinda old

funny people? - didnt see

I love you beth cooper - just as or more predictable, but it was pretty funny

the goods?

men who stare at goats?

do we count romantic comedies...?

I'm mostly asking because most of the comedies last year were uniumpressive, unless I missed some, then I would like to know so I can go watch some

men who stare at goats is on the list to see

To the people in here saying it was predictable. Did you expect Mike Tyson to come out of nowhere, sing a Phil Collins song and proceed to KTFO the dude? The ending might have been cliche, but it wasn't something you had figured out before hand. The majority of the movie was so all over the fucking place there's no way in hell a sane person could consider it predictable. There were so many twists and turns. It wasn't the best movie I saw last year, but it was damn entertaining and definitely anything but predictable. And anyone who claims they saw the ending coming is a damn liar.

first one was funny enough to see another

and this is what they movie studios are banking on

sequels can make so much more money with so much less effort

what makes the first movies so great is that they're unique and a good portion of the positive experience is because it was so fresh and new. With sequels its nearly impossible to bring something new to the table unless it was planned to be a franchise with sequels to begin with.

Hangover 2 could be 90 minutes of watching the original cast throwing up for 89 minutes and it would draw in tens of millions of dollars its opening weekend because people blindly went to see it based solely on the first one being good.

I definitely think The Hangover was the funniest movie of the year. One of the funniest movies I've ever seen. I'm apprehensive about the idea of a sequel, but I'll probably give it a shot.

I JUST finally saw Avatar

...when The Hangover passed Wedding Crashers as the highest-grossing R-rated comedy of all time in North America...

ummm.... What? Neither was any good. Still don't know the character names of any of the three guys in the link's picture.

I love all the classic "I'm so cool because I am going against the grain" posts.

At least no one posted the old favorite "never heard of that, I'm too unique to be in touch with society" line.

Oh boy, wedding crashers was fucking hilarious. I've seen it 4 times and it's funny as balls each time. The lines in it are classic.

I was really disappointed by The Hangover. It's the humor - it just wasn't that funny. Zach Galfwhatever's character was supposed to be this comic revelation, but I just found him awkward.

In the last year or so, I've quickly become a fan of Ken Jeong, but his improv'd stuff wasn't that strong. I did laugh when he jumped out of that trunk butt naked.

Wedding Crashers, no matter how played out it is now, was absolutely hysterical. A lot of people are sick of Vince Vaughn now, but that was a high water mark for him. The dialogue was some of the best in any comedy in a long time. It was easily the most quotable comedy in the last 5 or 10 years.

Not too surprising. I think people were talking sequel the second it came out in theaters. I'm not sure how I feel about it though - I'd rather see a sequel to Wedding Crashers first...maybe develop more on Ferrell's character "Chaz" I think.

I loved The Hangover... The OP's link makes me hopeful that they may have hurdled the first obstacle to avoiding sequel suckage by noting that the next one will likely not be a re-visitation of the alcohol/drug induced amnesia theme.

I hope they find something new for the 'wolfpack' to blunder through.
