Your doom & gloom shtick got old a long time ago. Meanwhile, Bannon has been indicted.

but he's right. Almost none of the insurrectionists are getting any serious consequences from their actions...so far, nearly all have only been charged with misdemeanors.
Bannon will end up skating.

I believe I previously read a comment in this forum (maybe in this thread?) whereby the more egregious violators were going to be prosecuted after the minor ones were taken care of? Big fish like Bannon will of course delay their being prosecuted 'til the very last second of their delaying tactics are exhausted which may extend past the '22 midterms where the Repubs will probably win back the House?

Some really mentally challenged people in the insurrection mix.

Capitol rioter Jenna Ryan says remorse is a "thought crime" ahead of prison sentence | Salon.com

So making someone possibly see the error of their ways, is now a "thought crime"

Cognitive dissonance is a helluva drug

According to prosecutors, as Ryan breached the Capitol, she flipped on her camera and began streaming on Facebook Live. She allegedly called on viewers to hire her as a realtor, and amid shattered glass and alarms, proclaimed: “Here we are, in the name of Jesus!”

Someone should ask her if she feels the same way about all those who "repent" their sinful ways and embrace Jesus. Just wondering if the dissonance would be enough to make her head assplode.

She is a perfect example of how the collusion between the Repub party leadership and many of the churches have exploited people's blind faith in religion and the trust they have in their clergy by politically evangelizing people just like her into the grip of the GOP, where the lies of their political cadre have the same impact and value as the politically infested sermons their preachers fill their member's hearts and minds with.

I recall somewhere a quote that I'll paraphrase that went something like "Satan is in the churches" and it sure does describe how the GOP has rooted itself and it's political propagandizing within the holy houses of the nation.

She's sort of right. If you ain't sorry about what you did and your lawyer tells you that have to fake it to draw a shorter sentence, I can see where a perp would think it's bullshit. It ain't a thought crime though. If you don't want to fake it, tell the court, "Hell yeah, I'd do it again!", and eat the porridge.

Please. It's a form of concern trolling. Whatever the topic, the answer is doom.

To be fair, doom has been the overall theme of American Politics for a while now.
I've been a politics nerd for a long time now and it is fair to say that our politics has become markedly more dysfunctional in the last decade. The GOP is happily advocating to let people die to win a few political points against the Democrats, which is not even needed because the Democrats don't even agree on their own platform and squander all their political capitol fighting each other.

Then we see an actually attempt, lead by the President, to overturn the results of a lawful election and nearly a year later all that has happened is a few of the rank and file people have been charged with mostly minor offences, and mostly getting minimal sentences when found guilty. It feels like doom.

Do you really feel that because some rich guy that has fallen out of favor of the powerful, not even a politician or leader in any way, got an indictment for a minor offense it is somehow vindication?
To me it feel like we are just accepting being doomed.

I'm not who you were talking about, but I'm not concern trolling. I'm fucking beyond concerned. There does not seem to be any real penalty for attempting to overthrow our government, at least not for those that organized the attempt, or even anyone they would care about. That is disastrous.

That almost seems too much for him given what some of the other non-violent 'tourists' have been sentenced to. He seems kinda of 'off' and I'm not sure he did anything violent.

Jet Girl only got what, a couple of months? She may not have been violent either, but her actions were more deliberate, belligerent and unapologetic.

That said, I think every single one of the arrestees should be getting five years and permanent loss of voting privileges, violent or not. But there has to be consistency in sentencing and I'm not seeing that.

At least one is being punished by being nominated to serve on the
Election Assistance Commission board of advisors.

That's tedious work where you have to sit in a stuffy room for hours and have to come up with made for FoxNews\OAN bs talking points hat can also be used for political campaign material.

They should all be charged with insurrection regardless of how long their sentence is for it as that would prohibit them from ever being able to run for public office.

Yeah, he claims to be remorseful. He claims to be peaceful. He claims that guy seen on January 6th is not the guy he really is.
Insurrectionist.... they say the darndest things. And lying to the courts would be their badge of honor. Just ask Steve Bannon about THAT.

Hey, at least he got a killer profile pic from Trey Parker and Matt Stone. He should use this in all social media profiles for all time.
