The half hour Obama special Wednesday Oct. 29

techs

Lifer
Will people watch it? What will he say? Good idea or bad idea?

When he first announced it I thought it was a great firewall to prevent a last minute Republican smear campaign.
The I also realized that it would be a chance for a Kennedyesque speech on how people don't need to fear electing a black President.

Now, I think it will just be a regular political type ad, though longer. And I wonder how many people will even know its on, and only find it by accident?
Though Obama could surprise us and name a couple of Cabinet secretaries, if he is elected.

I could care less about the political propaganda so I will avoid it at all costs. I can't believe the public relies on these ads to base their votes on.

He isn't going to name cabinet secretaries or talk about being black. It will probably be a closing argument type thing like his stumps have been recently.

Not planning on watching it. I already DVR to avoid ads on tv as much as possible. Why would I subject myself to a 30 minute ad voluntarily?

It is over kill Obama is so far a head this is just putting salt into the wounds of McCain. I do think he could lose a vote or 2 from people whos show was taken off the air for a week and replaced with Obama.

Here is one who sees virtue in being indifferent. He is too self important to care.

Here is one who expects to see more of what he's already seen. He likes a sure thing.

I think the ratings will suck. Perhaps start high and drop quickly.

I agree, but I think it's expected. In fact, they probably figure that most people who watch will switch stations after the first couple of minutes.

Even if they only pull in people out of curiosity for a couple of minutes, though, I think they will get the effect they want.

Here we see resentment.

I predict the pilot episode of a zany new sitcom featuring the newly elected President Obama and, due to a strange technicality, Sarah Palin. Hilarity ensues!

What we see in the Obama ad is ourselves, who we are.
Here is one that sees himself in Obama, but knows from much experience that vapor reflects well.

Wrong. I saw nothing at all. I have no idea what he will say nor do I have any urge to speculate. I may or may not tune in depending on what's going on at the time and where I am.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing it. Odds are it will be a summation and closing argument for his campaign, something to get the faithful and perhaps wavering independents charged up (remember it was concentrating on the faithful that gave GWB his 2004 victory). I don't disagree with PJ that the ratings will almost certainly be low, but that is pretty much besides the point. If it's a standard stump speech or puff biopic it will be a waste of time and money-you can see stump speeches of either candidate on CSPAN several times a day.

Here we see someone aspiring to win the "Most Thread Spam Of The Year" award.

But it's perfectly OK for you to rely on Hannity and Rush
