I googled and saw multiple guides that said different things. I'm currently running 10.6.3 and want to upgrade to 10.6.7, is there anything outside of the sleep.ktext I need to worry about? I'm running an ATI card if that makes any difference.

"Mostly consisting of modified netbooks running Mac OS X, the movement became fairly popular until Apple stepped in with the iPad and then MacBook Air to effectively redirect everyones attention back to official Apple hardware."

That opening gave me a laugh. That was never what building a Hackintosh was really all about, and the iPad in particular had shit all to do with any of it. And the $600 Hackintosh is even older than the 3 year old $300 Hackintosh thread in this forum!

oh yeah... I just tried to reinstall my whole hackintosh again, but this time with a 10.6.7 DVD. Will not work. I got the "You cannot install OSX on this computer".

Is it an official Apple DVD release, or is it one of those modded ones with a bunch of Hackintosh stuff already put on it? Also, is it a machine-specific DVD (like for a Macbook) or a generic Snow Leopard DVD?

I think it's a generic Snow Leopard DVD without a bunch of hacks... I did the ol' life hacker method lol... the funny thing is, I couldn't restore the DVD from the image... it said it needed to be "scanned" so I mounted the image, and used the image as "source" by right click and select "use as source".

I'm gonna try my ol' 10.6.3 disk again... I thought that was strange how it didn't work that way.. by the way, be careful of buying things from macmall... They sent me a fake "veloraptor".

HP ProBook 4530s, a good idea for a hackintosh laptop? It's only like $500 if you get the cheap version.

Much larger and actually up to date thread. I found that. That's why I considered using the 4530s. I got the almost base model, so it has HD3000. (i3-2130m, 320gb, HD3000, 4gb ram)

Wow, really nice! It's so good to see a laptop platform that is finally mostly compatible with OS X - you can finally get an affordable mobile device, haha. Let us know how it works out!

imo Tonymac has the best Hackintosh forum on the net right now. They are doing some really good work over there - their Chimera bootloader fork of Chameleon is nothing short of amazing.

Has anyone done this in VMWare Player? My Bluetooth keyboard is paired but I get no response out of it when I click the Enter key. Anyway to resolve this?

I've been curious if the newer releases can still be made to work in VirtualBox.

Not sure if this is allowed or not, but if anyone in the Boston area is looking, I have my hackintosh for sale. Check out the FS forum for "customac".

Just an update for me:

I just did a fresh install with a new hard drive and video card. Using Kakewalk made the install process as easy as installing on a real mac.

wonder how mountain lion is gonna work. They keep adding more and more 'pc' features to their lineups.
