The gym environment is like it's own backwards society...

Think about it, most people go to the gym to get in shape so they look better and more appealable to the opposite sex (or whatever)

YET....

The women parade around in skintight outfits, and i swear they went to a pre-gym so so they can look good for their "real" gym

but the GUYS.....

most of them walk around in what is in effect oversized diaper looking things (i've seen some with zebra stripes!), pink wife beaters that barely cover their man-nipples....big high-tops....nothing matches

I mean, in any other environment, most men would dress up to impress women! but it's like socially acceptable for dudes to look straight outta the 80's or something...

odd

/end random thought. 🙂

well, it seems that fashion sense is somehow inversely related to how much you dead lift

perhaps it's because guys who can bench press a car don't really get picked on for not wearing nice things....heheh

come on!

yeah, i'm generalizing to some extent (for comedic effect)...but overall, i think there's at least *some* validity to my argument!

eh? eh comrades?

They are called "meatheads" and I love to see them all steroided out and huge with little chicken legs. LMAO

When is the last time you worked out with your legs, '85??

Maybe because guys are concentrating on the IMPORTANT thing: getting buff, while chicks are always overly-concerned about their looks. Ugh. Chicks are retarded.

<< Dunno what kind of wack gym you go to.. guys wear "normal" gym clothes over here (shorts/tank top or t-shirt). >>

Here at our school gym, many females are wearing really tight clothing. Furthermore, many don't seem to be doing much working out, but rather lots of socializing with the guys who are lifting.

(Note that "many" =! "all")

The guys seem to dress pretty normally.
t-shirts are pretty much the norm though there are a few in wife-beaters
shorts or warmups
socks
cross-training shoes for lifting or basketball shoes for basketball

Ha ha.

I've found that the guys who care how their pecs look are the same guys who care how their hair, clothes, etc. look

all those things you mentioned, about the diapered men and the pre-gym skintight clothed women, further reinforces that i was smart in joing a women's only gym.

My idea on the matter.. basically.. when I'm in the weightroom, which is a daily routine for me, I'm merely wearing something that I grabbed quick in the morning before school. If it happens to be some old shirt that was my uncles from the 80's then so be it.. I've got a number of old shirts from the 80's that I use for lifting/football. Do I really wanna get nice t-shirts totally drenched in sweat and torn up from belts and the like... better yet, do I wanna spend money to buy shirts for lifting? No, and even if they're 4 bucks, they ain't free. 🙂 Besides, who cares what I'm wearing when I'm working out, I'm just a guy gettin' huge. 🙂

Ha, I was at the grocery store in line behind one of the owners of a local gym--big guy dressed in shorts and a tiny A-shirt so everybody could see his muscles--and after he paid and left this little old lady cashier leans over and quietly wispers: " It must be terrible to have to constantly be tense like that just so you can impress everybody".

That's very smart. I bet there's more cardio machines and less weight racks, benches, and machines and that the women there dress to what suits the activity they're doing in the gym

at my gym everyone wears their standard university issued t-shirts and shorts. Plus there's a "dress code"- basically nothing that shows more than either arms or midriffs, or both if you're a girl

Go to the gym to work out, quit looking at everybody else.

OTOH, there are some freaks that just cant go un-noticed......

Real gym rats dont care what they wear as long as it is comfortable. Some want to be able to see the muscles they are working to make sure they have the proper form going. Some just show off..... Big baggy pants keep you from busting the seam when you do squats. Ripping out your pants in the gym sucks....

When I went to a gym, I couldnt care one tiny bit how other people thought I looked, I wore what was cheap, comfortable and easy to wash.

hahahaha
that's true
wtf kinda gym do you go to?
the gym I go to everybody wears perfectly normal casual clothing

I've seen those kinds of clothes on guys at gyms frequented by bodybuilders and to a lesser extent powerlifters. "Normal" gyms that yuppie types frequent don't have that clientele, which explains the disparity in experiences here.

I go to a gym on a military base so it's pretty normal (except all the guys have short hair).
