Mine's worse. They added an extra row of keys on the left side of my laptop. Since I usually feel for the edge and work my way in, I'd open the calculator instead of hitting ctrl, stuff like that. I sort of got used to it, but then when I would use a normal keyboard I was always off by one key. I ended up re-mapping it so it performs the functions of the button that should be there.

Thats the same keyboard I'm using right now. I agree, that I don't like it either. But since I use this machine mostly for gaming it doesn't matter I suppose.

This keyboard layout makes sense, but is impossible to get used to.

ugh, I hate how they are screwing around with keyboards. They really should stick to one layout. What I also still hate is how the L shaped enter keys are pretty much a thing of the paste. WTF do I need a backspace that takes up more space than enter? Enter is what I like to consider a "main" key, it should be bigger. Move that | \ back where it belongs, and extend the enter key!

Wow. This is just...WRONG.

WRONG WRONG WRONG!

The tiny backspace on some keyboards is the bane of my existence. As a touch typist, I don't want to feel around to find backspace or perform some weird pinky finger contortionist act.

Contradicting what you say, those keyboards with the crooked return key don't have a standard position for the pipe/backslash key. I've had multiple different keyboards in the Win9x / WinXP days that had at least three positions for this key.

The tiny backspace is at the corner of a group of keys, so it's easy to find, there's no reason why it needs to extend that far out. The | \ should be next to the backspace so the enter key can extend that area.

One thing that took me a while to get used to on my keyboard is the F keys, on mine they arn't grouped in groups of 4. That screwed up my hot keys in Ultima Online as I can no longer feel which key I'm hitting. I added a dab of glue on one of the middle keys so it kinda helps.

The best keyboards were those old style ones in the win95 days. Not only did they have a nice layout, but they could be used as a self defense weapon and still work after.

That's Old Skool. Those keys are where the F# keys used to be. Copy/Paste/etc were F# keys and the keys on that board directly correlates(IIRC) with the key layout standardized by the early Word Processing software back in the '80's.

Yes, because according to Apple haters all Apple does is take other companies ideas and make them into an Apple product. So if they never make anything from their own ideas, then there's no possible way they could make the device you mistook for one of their actual up and coming products.

...does anyone know what this means?

'cause i may be hammered but i have little to no to less than no idea what thought is being expressed there and it hurts some kind of lobe on my brain thing.

lol, op's keyboard is my keyboard. For the most part I like it, but the left side of the space bar is getting a little flaky, and I've only had it a couple of years.

I was actually referring to the caps lock and control keys being switched. ;)

Tiny backspace keys suck, I have no problem hitting a normal sized enter key. No reason at all to use a huge L-shaped one.

Try the right alt key.

Yes, the right Alt key (which really should be labeled Alt Gr) + 5 is how you type the € symbol.

The worst keyboard I've used is the Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 3000:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/wireless-keyboard-3000#product-image-gallery

They've made the function keys super-tiny and spaced them evenly, so it's hard to hit the right one without looking. Also, by default they perform some other stupid function, and they keep going back to that mode when you're not looking.

I've got the 6000 model. I like the "warped" layout, but it's also got that stupid Function Key layout, with no grouping of them in 4s like every other keyboard in history has done. Yay, let's be different! The Escape key is part of the F-key row too, so it can get hit by accident too.

Luckily I've not had them revert to their other functions though.

While we're at it, where's the comma key by the keypad? If I'm putting in numbers and the program doesn't format them for me, I have to use my left hand. With the size of the 0, + and Enter, I don't see how they couldn't fit it in.

Hope mine holds up. After using a mechanical keyboard though I just can't go back. Love the tactile feeling you get. My next one will def be mechanical as well.

I'm surprised yours is even a little flakey after a couple of years, the build quality of the dasKeyboard seems really really good, though I admit that's just from my own personal feel for it.
