That's right, Nvidia has allegedly seen fit to introduce a GTX x30 card, probably to compete with the RX6400.

Expect to see these in tons of lower-end OEM PCs, also as replacement for the GTX 1050/ti. Expect 75W TDP or below slot-powered versions as well. No word yet if they will end up competing with the RX6400 in the single-slot LP market, but more competition is generally a Good Thing.

AMD: Here's our crippled RX 6400 for you DIY guys, get used to it.
Intel: Whoa, wait a minute. Our little A380 is way cooler as a rip off for customers. The Die is larger, it uses more power and is even slower than yours!
NV: Hold on guys. Are you serious? That's not even a challenge. You want a real turd? Here's our GTX 1630. You can't outplay us on that one!

Slower than a 6400, uses same/slightly more power than a 6400, still no AV1 support, $150.

Nvidia, not to be outdone, has released an even bigger turd than the 6500/6400 AMD cards.
I am really interested what score It will get at Techspot, when RX 6400 and RX 6500XT scored only 30 and 20 points in their review.

But probably Volta.

TU117 has Volta encoder section, while TU116 and above has Turing.

1650 Super has TU116 and Turing Encoder
Most regular 1650 Super have TU 117 and Volta Encoder (but some have higher end chips with Turing).

I'd expect most if not all 1630's to have TU117 and Volta Encoder...

Well, at least the 1660 Ti I have has zero RPM fan mode when it's under 40°C, which is pretty much always.

It might be the card for someone with a CPU that doesn't have onboard graphics, just needs to run a desktop and maybe watch a video, and needs more than a used ebay GT 710 in terms of multi-monitor and resolution support. I guess. Still way overpriced for that, though.

that thing is slower than I expected, but if it's cheap and available enough, it's not completely useless as an entry level card I think, but yes.... very uninspiring...

LOL Tom's Hardware throwing shade too.
GeForce GTX 1630 Proves the RX 6400 Is the Hero We Needed

This is my favorite launch in quite a while. Having lulz watching many of the same people roasting the 6400 and 6500 suddenly turn a 180 to try to polish an Nvidia turd. I laughed at the TPU pro checkmark of being 3.0 x16. Hahahaha! Why would you list that? The card is so slow, it could be 5.0 x16, it means nothing. :D

Already seeing the kid gloves compared to how the AMD entry level cards were greeted. Nvidia really knows how to influence editorial direction it seems.

That said, I expect Aussie Steve to obliterate the 1630. No way he is going to bend the knee and shill for this overpriced GPU.

It wouldn't surprise me to hear that the internal nvidia driver people pushed hard to get the 1630 released. That way, they can deprecate the 1030 and 1050Ti support and point to the 1630 as the replacement for those who don't need more than casual gaming. Just like what happened to the GT 710 already. (Fortunately for me, the linux nouveau driver handles the 710 just fine for desktop purposes.)

That's NOT going to happen, for as long as the mid-range 10-series, yes, I'm looking at you, GTX 1060, in all your glory and many forms (including OEM pre-builts) remains at the top of the Steam Survey video card charts.

I mean, it will happen eventually, but I don't know if I'll see it in my lifetime.

I thought to myself - hey, there's a bright side, it seems like this will be the last 4GB graphics card - but then I remembered that there's a rumored A310 from intel.
1630 vs A310 is ultra cursed and I want to see it.

The worst aspect, IMHO?
Not the price, not the performance, not the fact that it's so large compared to the 1030 it's supposed to replace.

But what the hell is that 6-pin power connector? I mean, even the 1650 - still a much better card! - doesn't require additional power!

The 1630 doesn't require a power connector. But just like the 1650, some manufacturers require them, so they can overclock like 10mhz!!!

Hey guys, I'm on EVGA's site and trying to decide between this new 1630 card...

And this 2060 6GB in a kit
View attachment 63829

Mostly play Halo and stuff, do you think the extra 2GB VRAM, RTX cores, and 6 times higher framerate is worth the extra $40?

Well I have to admit

Well, no problem if they pay you for polishing.:mask:
