That's right, Nvidia has allegedly seen fit to introduce a GTX x30 card, probably to compete with the RX6400.

Expect to see these in tons of lower-end OEM PCs, also as replacement for the GTX 1050/ti. Expect 75W TDP or below slot-powered versions as well. No word yet if they will end up competing with the RX6400 in the single-slot LP market, but more competition is generally a Good Thing.

Videocardz had another article about it, saying it only has 512 cores. If it's true it's going to be slower than the 6400 for sure. It's more of an Arc competitor.

Not nec. Nvidia's cores tend to be "stronger", so AMD has more of them at the same performance level. Or that used to be the case.

GT 730 only has 384 Kepler cores, and GT 1030 only has 384 Pascal cores, so for GTX 1630 to have 512 Turing cores, that's actually a definitive step up in the x30-class cards.

How many did the non-ti GTX 1050 have? I think that might have been 512 as well.

Edit: Doesn't make sense for retail if this is slower than the 1050 Ti, so maybe it's just an OEM only dump of dies that couldn't even be used for the Turing mx.

but seriously... i wouldn't touch this card for the life of me unless its priced below 75 dollars.
I would avoid the 1010 with DDR4 like a plague on top.
I think my dog's dookie has more value in the fact you could probably burn it for fuel, at the very least.

I'd say something that uses less than 75W, so no power connectors needed to upgrade a crappy HP/Dell, but IIRC you can already get 75W 1650 with no power connector.

TU117 has Volta encoder section, while TU116 and above has Turing.

1650 Super has TU116 and Turing Encoder
Most regular 1650 Super have TU 117 and Volta Encoder (but some have higher end chips with Turing).

I'd expect most if not all 1630's to have TU117 and Volta Encoder...

Not a surprise. 6400 is close to the 1650, and this is cut down significantly from a 1650.

Slower than a 6400, uses same/slightly more power than a 6400, still no AV1 support, $150.

Nvidia, not to be outdone, has released an even bigger turd than the 6500/6400 AMD cards.
