She either knows the truth already, and is simply continuing the big lie, or is actually as dumb as she portrays, in which case she will never learn anything.

Her statement is pretty clear
"I want to make sure that we protect all of us on our side " from being exposed for what we are and prevent prosecution for what we've done.
"We protect the truth " from scrutiny by the public.
"That the right questions are asked." to change the narrative to the list of garbage that I typically push out my ass.

She's simply hoping to show up to the commitee with her firehose of shit.

I like how rampant antisemitism and insane conspiracy theories aren't sufficient in McCarthy's eyes to strip someone of their committees but attempting to investigate a deadly insurrection that attempted to overthrow the republic is.

You are exactly right though, Republicans don't want this to be investigated because it is extremely likely to find that multiple sitting members of Congress were at a minimum complicit in the insurrection.
 
McCarthy still hasn’t said if he’d appoint members as Minority Leader, although he already has volunteers in Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz and Lauren Boebert. I can see him appointing them to, disrupt with bullshit, and make a mockery of the committee and proceedings.

Adam Kitzinger and Liz Cheney may agree to serve on the committee even if McCarthy declines to appoint any Republicans. There’s no rule against the Speaker appointing Republican members against the Minority Leader’s wishes, but it would be a public break with the caucus on their parts. Maybe they both figure they’re toast in their next primaries and want to do some good with the time they have left.

Not to echo them, but I kind of have to wonder what this commission might be able to find that the DOJ and AG can't.

It's not that they will necessarily find facts the DOJ CAN'T find, it's that the DOJ's investigations are secret by design and so there's a great deal of information they will discover that will never be disclosed to the public, or will only be disclosed in court briefings that don't get a lot of press.

The purpose of this commission is not only to uncover the truth but to inform the American public of it.

Although a shitstain I'm not sure McCarthy committed a crime that would come under DOJ jurisdiction. He was one of those people panicking trying to get Trump to take action. However Congress can subpoena and question his ass till the cows come home. Also what @fskimospy said

Right, in fact I would be very surprised if any member of Congress is charged with a crime over this, but this shows again why Congress needs to investigate in addition to the DOJ.

For example it seems fairly likely that Boebert aided the insurrection. If what she did doesn't rise to the level of a crime the DOJ can charge and convict on though, we will never know. Congress can let us see that information though.

While I jest, she certainly does seem to have an equine level intellect to match her other rather porcine qualities, and I don't see any of that being of any benefit to a commission. She'll see it as her duty to ruin the proceedings as much as possible, use it to help make more of name for herself among the nuts of Team Treason. So fuck her and the horse that rode in on her. Same for the GQP's sex trafficking Jimmy Neutron.

Pelosi should put Cheney and Kinzinger on the commission and move on. Ignore the bleating of people who have already turned their backs on the Constitution and their oaths of office.
