Where's Rich Gannon?

I have never seen one QB run more sucessful 2:00 drills than him, from within their 20. When push comes to shove, I'll take the crazy perfectionist who is the master of the 6-yard pass. It beats out drop coverage every time.

I don't think you can be considered "The Greatest QB Ever" without having won at least one Superbowl. In fact, I'm sure of it.

Their lack of votes will take care of that.

Anyway, if I did that, I'd have to take off Brady. If the list doen't have Marino on it, it sure as hell ain't gonna have Brady on it.

I voted for Montana personally. I don't think Brady is quite there yet. Marino sure as hell wasn't.

Now, if the poll was who was the greatest QB to NEVER win the Superbowl then I'd vote for Marino.

Besides, Tom Brady=3 Superbowl rings. Dan Marino=0 Superbowl rings. I don't care about career records. The whole point of playing professional football is to win the Superbowl. If you haven't won it then you aren't the greatest. That's all.

Elway gets my vote......Montana is overrated......he had some of the greatest supporting casts ever. Elway took the Broncos to three superbowls almost single handedly (he didnt win any of those though).....can you name any of the players he played with? How many can you name from Montanas teams? Alot more I'd say.

Also, did you know that Drew Bledsoe has more career passing yards then Montana?

Reggie Miller?

You're shocked at that? I think most people would agree with me...
Oh, he is certainly an all-time great, but noone says, "I want to be like Reggie"

Yeah, but Jordan only had one "The Shot", but Reggie won so many games with last second daggers they simply gave up counting. Jordan was a superior player for 98% of the game - but with the chips down and seconds to go, Miller WAS the go-to man like never before - or possibly ever. He couldn't come close to Jordan on defense, leadership, or style - but man could he make last-second shots from as far away as you could see the basket - even when the other team KNEW he was getting the ball. It's like that's all he lived to do...

Last second basketball hero? Reggie all the way...if you don't believe it, go watch the tapes of his last game in Detroit - when the home team called a time out so that he could walk off the floor for his last time to a standing ovation...

FS

yo, get off reggie's sack. while there is no questioning reggie as a great player and among the most feared clutch performers, there is no way in hell i would want the ball in anyone but jordan's hands when the game is on the line. the only time i would ever pick miller ahead of jordan is in a 3pt shoot out, or a FT contest. jordan only had "the shot"? come on dude, are you serious? in the final possessions of bulls games, jordan was the man with the ball. everyone knew it. he put jumpers at the buzzer in the eye of just about everyone who had the misfortune of drawing jordan as a defensive assignment. in no way am i saying all these other guys stink... i'm just saying jordan was better.

People really need to stop throwing in team accomplishments when talking about personal accomplishments. It's the most absolutely ridiculous thing I hear, and I hear it all the time from the sports "analysts" on tv.

Except the starving children in Somalia. Oh wait, they're already like Reggie.

Let's see:

Sammy Winder
Mark Jackson
Vance Johnson

Plus let's not forget that Denver had a pretty nice defense back then. Elway didn't even throw for 20 TDs in '86, '87 or '89 when they went to the Super Bowl.

Did you know that Elway threw almost twice as many INTs as Montana? Do either of those stats even matter?

My first thought is Elway, given the scenario, but that doesn't mean I think him the greatest QB all time.

Edit: and Roger Staubach needs to be added to that list, and what the hell is McNabb doing on it?

Exactly why my vote went to Elway. Put in that situation, he always earns my respect. Overall, he never had a team that could compete with the rough-cut NFC teams of the 80s and 90s. Remember how there was like an 18-20 year Superbowl streak of NFC wins? Superbowl rings are meaningless when it comes to real football because any day you can win or lose.

That team sure is lucky he retired ;)

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the 49er's weren't behind nearly as much in the 4th quarter as the Broncos were.

Both were great. I think both would be equally effective in the last two minutes of a football game.

I don't know who any of those people are, so I picked Peyton Manning because that's a kind of funny sounding name.

montana has always partly been the product of a great system. he was the PERFECT QB for that system. if he had been drafted by the raiders instead of the Niners and had to play that long vertical game, he would have washed out very quickly. the system walsh designed was perfect for montana and vice versa.

Elway would have succeeded in EITHER the Raider vertical game system or the walsh dump system. hence, Elway was the better qb. and also, elway was the better pure athlete.
