K-pop can be a lot of fun if you just like catchy songs, awesome dance moves, and great choreography. Check out any of the groups choreographed by Rino Nakasone. If you take your music too seriously you probably won't enjoy it.

The term "oppa" reminds me of the Japanese word "oppai" which has a totally different meaning (means breast). That reminds me of the movie Oppai Volleyball, and the beginning as they try and get the mimic squeezing a breast by traveling really fast down a hill (and squeezing the air).
