Also, I really dug H.G. Wells Time Machine book whenI was a kid.

 
Fiction: 1984 or The Jungle. I haven't decided yet.

Non-fiction: The Skeptical Environmentalist or The Federalist Papers. I haven't decided yet, either.

 
I loved Gatsby, but I'd sugget you read "the sun also rises" and everything easily available from Salinger except for Catcher... (Nine Stories, Franny & Zooey, Raise High...) before making that Gatsby claim...
