Gotta agree. Never saw the point.

Unless you prefer not missing content that interests you... for whatever reason YT notifications are disabled if not subscribed plus there's no logic in what they show you. (not implying I'm happy about this)

The other argument in favor would be sites (like Gamers Nexus for me) that one might like to support making money off of subs.

in no way i am defending youtube notifications. Youtube wants to be a video-entertainment platform with thousands of channels but prepares for a platform of a dozen channels. It sucks big, sweaty camel balls. Yum yum.

But yeah. Because of the also absolutely shocking youtube recommendation system that will happily recommend a video you have literally just fucking watched, you need to subscribe to channels to get any not-endlessly-duplicated content on youtube - which is now 99% a TV station.

And so i do. But those too clutter my homepage and the only way to surf for some new content is to launch Brave browers and clear all cookies and basically browse YT as if you were a new account. AND THEN copy the interesting stuff over to my main.

Because I'm in charge and I decide: why vegan food? Oh and Peterson is a muppet.

I got really tired of my jumbled interests and the lack of a way to organize subs. For instance, working on a home improvement project and searching a couple videos, then getting recommendations for the next couple weeks after the project is finished.

The lack of ability to subcategorize subscriptions with folders or tags is absurd.

So I ended created multiple youtube accounts for different purposes to manage the subs that way. All my tech / programming videos on a separate account. It was entertaining to see the ai get trained in real time transferring over some of my likes and subs.

I'd say it paid off for me because that channel has recommended me some great videos that taught me a lot, that I don't think I ever would have otherwise found. And it's fairly easy to switch between accounts on my devices, just need to remember.

Anyone else doing this or am I the crazy? I've also been a longtime YouTube red/Premium subscriber

Do you use Chrome? There's a nice plugin for doing collections of subscriptions. See video here:

Oh and Peterson is a muppet.

That dude has the most amazing "keep calm in the heat of the moment" skills I've ever seen in a human being. He's like Ali dodging punches, but when put verbally on the spot:

That original video of him not taking the bait, when pressured, in front of a crowd, in public, is pretty amazing. I get super flustered on the spot...I do pretty well when I prepare stuff like Powerpoint pitches for customers & whatnot, and I actually do better when it's like a hall of 500 people where I'm the only one talking & not a smaller crowd with a Q&A session. I understand debate, but real-time arguments are not my forte because my brain just kinda shorts out as my anxiety takes over lol. This guy is stone-cold:

I also maintain a couple different accounts for keeping YouTube things separate, mostly one main/general content, and one that's basically a replacement for MTV.
I do have another that I use for playing along with music (so it's mostly focused on regular people's covers of stuff, so I can watch their hands and follow along).

Pales in comparison to his Channel 4 interview.

"So what you're saying is...." became a meme from it.

Oh dang I remember that one! I think that was the first one I ever saw him in! The dude is incredibly clear-thinking under the live spotlight! I wish I had a fraction of those capabilities lol. My brain fog kicks in bad in the heat of the moment & I lose track of whatever I was talking about hahaha.
