I enjoyed the movie, but mostly only for it's costumes and imagery. The story itself isn't wasn't great, and having read the book in school like a lot of you, I already knew exactly what to expect.

If I could sum up the movie: it is about a wise and beautiful woman that leads on a poor man, who works hard for all his money just to be with her, only to be killed because of her.

I also thought the casting of the lead girl was incredibly poor. She was supposed to be a wondrous beauty, and that girl wasn't.

i enjoyed the music in the movie, and the one party scene was pretty cool. otherwise it was a horrible movie. at least i watched it on a plane.

I HATED that book, probably the worst book I read in high school. I hated the characters, the story, everything. I have no interest in the film since the book was so terrible.

Someone never read Beloved

That is true. Most of what we read in high school was good (Frederick Douglas, To Kill a Mockingbird, Lord of the Flies, Of Mice and Men, Hamlet, Grapes of wrath, some Poe) .. (I dont remember all of them since high school was 1994-1998 and Ive read hundreds since that time.)
