I run;

QX6700 CPU
Corsair XMS 2024Mb PC8500 as recommened by EVGA
EVGA 680i SLi Mobo
2 x EVGA 8800GTX 768Mb
Tagan 1100W PSU all plugs in.

Built rig, switched to SLi mode, XP works OK.

I started to get a Nvidia power warning saying my GFX cards power was to be reduced to protect the card. This was random, sometimes never, sometimes whilst just idling.

However when I went into any game, the game froze within 30 seconds with the audio still playing.

Problem checks;
Check Bios ? OK
Used various different drivers fro GFX all had same problem
Turned off the on board sound , had same problems

Removed one GFX card
GFX 1 ran OK in games but still returned the power warning.

Removed GFX 1 and put GFX 2 in the rig. GFX2 ran XP OK, but immediately locked up in games. No power warning yet!

As far as I can figure I have the following problems;

GFX 1 is faulty with faulty power sensor?
GFX 2 id definitely faulty due to all the lock ups?
Mobo is faulty effecting both cards?
GFX1, GFX 2 & Mobo are all faulty in one way or another?

Help??????.

aside from the actual warnings, your sympotoms appear psu related as well, but thats a nice psu ( imo, tagan is above average and 1100w :Q ) :confused: have you measured the actual output of the individual rails with a dmm? it's not unpossible to get a faulty psu or have it go bad quickly. i also don't know how tagan split the rails-6 12v rails with 960w combined is insane but i dunno what is drawing from which 12v rail. i'd imagine with 6 rails they'd have each pci-e connector seperate and independent but idk what they have.

both cards yield the same result when used in single card mode, except card 2 doesn't give the power warning?

btw-how old is that evga board? the first run boards were recalled by evga for free replacements. check your part # by your dimms.
