what did you think of it? i just read it for a class and am having a hrd time understanding some of the symbols that Steinbeck uses. My teacher says that the slot machine in the burger stand has some sort of symbolic meaning but i just dont see it. I understand the rest just perfectly but this one symbol is throwing me off.
 
It symbolizes the way that big business or the 'owners' take advantage of the people. The slot machine is rigged and it's owner takes advantage of his customers. It goes deeper than that but I dont remember the book very well anymore.
